Errorless By Design: The Ramp Is The Number Of Tiles, Never A Trick Tile

At every level, every wrong tile is a plainly different kind of thing from the target — a sandal beside a unicorn, a taco beside a dragon. There is no look-alike, no near miss and no same-category distractor anywhere in the box, so the first cards are nearly impossible to get wrong and the later cards only ask the child to look at a longer row before choosing.

The matching tile sits in a different position from card to card at every level (never always first), so a student choosing by position instead of by picture shows up on the data sheet. Three picture pairs whose black-and-white outlines are close (heart / planet, teddy / boar, cell phone / package) never share a card, and the build refuses a card that puts them together.

Nothing on a card says its level except a dot code in the corner (one, two or three dots), so a mixed-up box sorts itself back together.

What This Is, And What It Is Not

It is a fillable PDF: type into the data sheet, the graph header, the family page and the example-style notes, or print and use a pen. The card pages and picture list print on cardstock or plain paper and cut along dashed lines, six cards to a sheet, every cut a straight line. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a test of anything.

It carries no prompt hierarchy, fading schedule or mastery rule, and it does not decide what a percent means for a student or when to move up a level. The goal line and the criterion field are blanks for your district's own wording and your team's own number. It measures one thing: cards where the tile matching the top picture is marked.

Who This Is For

Special education teachers and paraprofessionals running independent work stations or task box rotations with early learners, students who are new to table work, or any student whose first cards need to be ones that cannot go wrong; case managers who need that practice to show up as data; and the families who get the practice page sent home. A second word bank from the Errorless Task Boxes line, built so a classroom with more than one matching box never repeats a picture between them.

More In The Collection

This is one set in the Task Box Collection; more sort, counting, matching and sequencing boxes are being added to the collection regularly, all on the same cards-plus-data shape.
