About this resource

Six grade 3-6 IEP goals for figurative language and word-meaning-in-context — a step up from bare vocabulary, a step short of full passage comprehension — each with six probe forms and a graph scaled to the probe.

Six skills, one per file: personification and hyperbole, onomatopoeia or alliteration, idioms (identify the meaning), denotation and connotation (shades of meaning), mood and tone (identify the word), and adages and proverbs (identify the meaning). This cluster sits next to this store's Reading Comprehension & Vocabulary Bundle (passage-level comprehension) and Word Study & Structural Analysis Bundle (morphology, prefixes/suffixes/roots) without repeating either: these six are about meaning carried by a word or phrase in a short context, not a passage and not word parts.

WHAT IS IN THE BUNDLE - 6 fillable PDFs, 108 pages, 36 probe forms

What Every File Contains

What This Is, And What It Is Not

Fillable PDFs. Goal pages, the goal box on every probe form, and data logs are type-in fields: click, type, Save As once per student. The probe forms are meant to be printed: one copy per student per week, the student writes on the form, and that same sheet is the one you score. Works offline with no account or subscription; nothing calculates percents or draws the graph for you.

Not a norm-referenced assessment. No benchmark scores, no "typical" rates; the criteria in the sample goals are in brackets because your team sets them from the baseline and the student's IEP. Every probe is untimed on purpose and the goal pages say so, so the condition stays the same all year.

Who This Is For

Third through sixth grade special education teachers and case managers writing figurative-language or word-meaning IEP goals, reading interventionists, and the paraprofessionals who give the weekly probe.
