About this resource
Sums and differences within 10, on pages a child can pick up and start — both operations, in the same book. Count pictures in a ten-frame, hop a number line forward or backward, cross out to subtract, fill in a fact family triangle, or spot a mistake and fix it. Every page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction, and answer boxes made for a child's handwriting. Untimed: no clock, no score on the page.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (32 pages: 16 student pages, 16 for you)
- 71 addition and subtraction items, sums 2 to 10, drawn from a 25-fact pool and computed in code (never hand-typed) — the fact map (page 5) shows honestly where every fact is used
- Ways to Add and Subtract: one fact shown four ways (ten-frame, number line, cross it out, fact family triangle), plus a Your turn row where the child writes an addition and a subtraction of their own (1 page)
- Ten-Frame Add: one ten-frame holding both addends; count all, write the addition, or draw more in by hand — addition only (14 items, 3 pages)
- Number Line Hops: hops forward for addition, backward for subtraction, or a mixed set where the child rings the start and draws the hops themselves (14 items, 3 pages)
- Cross It Out: drawn pictures with some crossed out; read what is left, write the full sentence, or draw the picture and cross it out yourself — subtraction only (14 items, 3 pages)
- Fact Family Triangles: a whole and two parts; write the two addition and two subtraction sentences, or find the missing part first and then write the family (8 items, 2 pages)
- Fix It: a printed sentence, addition or subtraction; circle yes or no and write the right answer if it is wrong (9 items, 2 pages)
- Cut and Glue: 6 pieces, 3 cuts, a mixed set of addition and subtraction sentences matched to their answers (12 items, 2 pages)
- A fact map showing all 25 facts and every page type each is used on, 2 answer keys (42 rows and 29 rows, across three side-by-side tables each), a tracker, a class grid, a team note, a home page with a printed number line and blank equations for the family to fill in, a filled example (an invented student), a phrase and strategy bank (17 starters), a binder cover and 6 divider tabs with a spine label
- Start Here, a how-it-works page and a "What's next" back page
Built For The Child, Not The Office
Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture (a pencil, a circle, or scissors), rounded boxes at least half an inch tall, and plenty of room. Ten-Frame Set C and Cross It Out Set C add a "My work" box for drawing. Everything for you (directions, answer keys, scoring) is on separate teacher pages.
Three Levels, Marked By Dots
One dot: starting (both numbers are printed, no operation is hidden). Two dots: building. Three dots: ready for more (draw the missing group, draw the hops, solve a triangle before writing the family). The dots are the only level code, so children at one table are not comparing papers.
Both Operations, One Book
Number Line Hops, Fact Family Triangles, Fix It and Cut and Glue all mix addition and subtraction on the same page, so a child practices telling the two apart, not just computing one of them. Every answer, every hop, every crossed-out picture and every row of both answer keys is read from the same 25-pair pool, computed in code; there is no second, hand-typed key.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, every answer box, the tracker, class grid, team note and home page are type-in fields in any PDF reader; the ten-frames, number lines, pictures and triangles are always printed. Every page also prints clean in black and white. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers, special education and resource room teachers, interventionists, and anyone who needs addition and subtraction practice at more than one level in one file, with the tracking and family pages already made.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
An untimed addition and subtraction practice set within 10, with the record-keeping around it. It is not a timed fluency probe or a goal page, not a full math curriculum, and not a claim about any student's age, grade level or rate of progress. Every sum or difference here stays within 10, so this is not an addition-or-subtraction-within-20 file.
