About this resource
Set up an Affirmation Station in your classroom: a mirror, a poster and a set of short, kind cards. A student picks a card, looks in the mirror, takes a breath and says it out loud. Cards to cut and post, worksheets with room to write and draw, and trackers to color make it a routine, not a one-time poster.
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 25 pages
- A mirror station poster: a drawn mirror, a spot to post a card, and four big steps (pick a card, look, breathe, say it)
- The same poster in black-and-white ink-saver
- 24 mirror affirmation cards in 3 sets of 8: I Am Brave, I Am Kind, I Am Me. Cut apart 2 across and 4 down so each cut is one straight line. Solid outlines, big words, and a number on every card
- 8 blank mirror cards for a student's own words
- My Favorite Affirmation: pick a card, copy it, draw it and color when it will be said
- Make My Own Affirmation: pick a start (I am, I can, I will try, I like), write it, draw it and color 3 stars
- Pick Three: 3 cards to say, with 3 stars to color for each
- Before and After: a weather check (sunny, cloudy, rainy, rainbow) before and after the mirror
- My Week at the Mirror: 5 days, a line for the card and 3 stars a day
- My Month at the Mirror: 4 weeks of 5 days to color a star
- My Stars This Month: a one-page roll-up with a bar chart of 4 weeks to color, a total, a favorite card and a goal for next month
- A filled example with an invented student, Maya: a week and a month of stars already colored, with the numbers explained
- A set-up page for the teacher
- Binder organizer: 3 section divider pages, 12 cut-apart binder labels and a binder spine
- A family page with 6 small cards to cut apart and a note home
- Start Here, a contents page that maps every page, and a "what's next" back page
The Cards
I am brave. I can try again. I am kind. I am a good friend. Mistakes help me grow. My voice matters. Short sentences in plain words a young reader can sound out, or an adult can read aloud. There is no health, family or personal content on any card.
The Student Pages
Every student page has a "My name" line, one short instruction, big rounded words and plenty of room to write and draw. The art is drawn marks only: a mirror, sparkles, stars and weather pictures. There are no faces and no photos.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the name lines, the writing lines, the family page and the blank cards, or print and use a pencil. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
Who This Is For
Classroom teachers, special education teachers, counselors' classrooms, paraprofessionals and families working with students in grades K-5.
