About this resource
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 19 pages, 107 fillable fields
- A Big or Little? Match Board: five objects, each printed big on the left and little on the right of its own bordered pair, with a dashed slot under every picture — ten slots in all — plus 10 cut-apart size-label cards (5 "Big," 5 "Little") on the same sheet
- A Sort Big and Little Board: the same five objects printed a third and a fourth time, once large and once small, with a Big slot and a Little slot and 10 cut-apart picture cards (5 big, 5 little) on the same sheet
- Both boards twice: a full-color set for a laminated binder and a black-and-white ink-saver set for the photocopier
- 30 cut-apart cards in all, counting both classroom boards and the home page once each
- A weekly tracker: 7 board jobs down (one per match pair, one per sort pile), Monday to Friday across, one letter per cell (no help / pointed once / said the words / not run), a "no help" count per row and a week total
- A binder organizer: a front cover, a spine strip and nine divider tabs (three of them blank)
- A home version: a smaller big-pile/little-pile sort on the same five objects for the kitchen table, with a seven-day "we did it" row
- A family update with a team hand-off block for the next adult who runs the binder
- A phrase bank: 24 lines in 6 groups (spoken lines for running the boards, written starters for the note afterward)
- A filled example — an invented student, one week, every count re-counted from its own row
- An answer key listing every board item, the cards it takes and what correct looks like, plus the full object list
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
A size-concepts binder built on five objects — a bear, a dog, a ball, a shoe, a cup — printed at two scales instead of a second topic. Most matching binders run one picture per board cell; this one puts the same picture at two different sizes side by side so the match is about size, not a new word list, then runs the same five-object idea a second way on a sort board, with the tracker, family update and phrase bank behind both.
The Boards
- Big or Little? Match Board (page 6 in color, page 7 in ink-saver) — the board stays whole above a cut line; the card band below cuts apart. Five bordered pairs, each one object printed big on the left and little on the right, with its own dashed slot under each half: the child puts a "Big" or "Little" word card on the slot under the picture that size.
- Sort Big and Little Board (page 9 in color, page 10 in ink-saver) — two slots, "Big" and "Little," and the same five objects printed a third and fourth time at two sizes, cut apart as ten picture cards: the child sorts every card onto the slot that matches its printed size.
The Objects
- Match board (5 objects, printed twice each — big and little): bear, dog, ball, shoe, cup
- Match board label cards (10): 5 "Big," 5 "Little"
- Sort board cards (10): the same five objects, 5 printed large, 5 printed small
- Home page — the same five objects, printed large and small again, sized for the kitchen table
Every picture was chosen to be named in one word by a young child, in color AND in the black-and-white set. All five were already in use elsewhere in this catalog under these names (bear in the Zoo Animals binder, dog in the Pets binder, shoe in the Clothing and Dress-Up binders, ball and cup across several task-box sets) and were re-checked here by rendering the real picture HTML at the two sizes this product actually prints — 92px "big," 40px "little" — in both sets, side by side, before the word bank was finalized; no swap was needed (see the module docstring).
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the tracker, the organizer, the home page and the family update, or print and use a pen. The board pages print on cardstock or plain paper; the card band cuts off the bottom and the board stays whole. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a test of anything.
It carries no prompt hierarchy, fading schedule or physical-guidance procedure, and it does not decide what a count means for a student or when a board is done with. It makes no claim about any real child's own belongings; every card is an invented picture at an invented size. The tracker counts which boards were done and what help was given, and nothing else.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers and paraprofessionals running size-concept or early comparative-vocabulary practice with early, pre-reading or low-verbal students, case managers who need that practice to show up as data, and the families who get the home page.
More In The Collection
This binder is part of the Morning Work & Adapted Books Collection; more matching binders are being added to the collection regularly, all on the same boards-plus-tracker shape.
