About this resource
Looking for Christmas cutting practice that goes from the easiest line to a spiral, with a picture at the end of every cut? Students cut along straight, slanted, wavy, zigzag and curved lines to a Christmas picture (a tree, gift, candy cane, stocking, ornament or snowman), cut around circles, squares, triangles and stars, then cut pieces out and glue them where they go. Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction with a small picture and room to cut. Print and go, or type into the PDF.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (29 sheets)
- 19 student pages: 7 cut-line sheets with 40 cut lines in all, 3 cut-out shape sheets with 18 shapes in all, 8 cut and paste sheets with 41 cut pieces in all, and a cutting ladder where the student colors a star for each skill
- Cut lines: straight, slanted, wavy, zigzag and curved lines (6 lines on each sheet, easiest line first), 4 spirals, and a mixed sheet. Each line starts at a green dot next to the scissors and ends at a Christmas picture
- Cut out shapes: straight-sided shapes (squares, rectangles, triangles), round shapes (circles and ovals), and a star and diamond sheet. Each shape has a thick dashed outline
- Cut and paste: cut and glue the word by the picture (3 sheets), count and glue the number (2 sheets), cut and sort into two groups and three groups (2 sheets), and cut and glue five winter clothes in order. Every strip has 5 or 6 pieces, edge to edge, so each cut is one straight line
- 3 levels marked with a shape in the corner: a circle (5 sheets) is the easiest start, with a faint twin where a piece goes; a square (8 sheets) is the standard task; a triangle (5 sheets) has spirals, mixed lines, a star, bigger numbers and a three-group sort
- Teacher tips, an answer key for the cut and paste sheets, a recording sheet, a filled example (an invented student), a family page, a What's Next page and Start Here
How It Works
Pick a skill, print a page, hand it over. On the cut-line sheets each line sits in its own box with a thin gap, so a teacher can cut the page into strips first for a student who needs a smaller job. The corner shape shows the level. Check the cut and paste sheets with the key, then write the date and a result (yes, most, not yet) on the recording sheet. The family page shows a few things to say at home.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
This is a fillable PDF you can type into or print. It is not an editable slide deck or word-processing file. It is cutting practice for the classroom, not a therapy program: the teacher tips are plain classroom habits, and there are no age levels, scores or developmental claims. The pictures are from licensed clip art.
Who This Is For
PreK-2 classroom and special education teachers, paraprofessionals and homeschool families who want December scissor-skills practice for a whole class, a small group or one student at a center.
