About this resource
A Christmas trivia game you can run with paper, scissors and a pencil: no device, no screen, no login. Print it, cut the cards, make teams, and play one round or all four. The questions are plain facts about customs around the world, winter, songs, symbols and treats, written for grades 3-6, and every question is multiple choice (or true or false) so teams can talk it over and write one answer.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (21 pages)
- 60 original trivia questions in 4 rounds of 15: Around the World, Winter Facts, Songs, Symbols and Treats, and a Mixed-Up Challenge
- 64 question cards to cut, 8 to a page, two cutting pages per round: the 60 questions plus 4 bonus cards (act it out, draw it, hum it, cheer)
- 4 answer sheets, one for each round, with 15 numbered writing lines, a team name line and a bonus star to color
- 1 answer key that lists the right letter and answer for all 60 questions
- 1 Start Here page: how to play (teams, rounds, scoring), ways to use it, and prep
- 1 score tracker for up to 8 teams, with scoring rules and a place for round winners
- 1 filled example scoreboard with 4 invented teams, so you can see how the totals are added
- 1 make-your-own page with question starters and room for 2 questions, and a sheet of 8 blank cards to cut
- 1 family page with 3 sample questions and a note that welcomes every family's customs
- 1 credits page
How A Game Goes
Teams of 3 or 4 pick a name. You read a card aloud, teams talk it over quietly and write their answer on the numbered line. After 15 questions, read the answers from the key and let teams check each other's sheets. Each right answer and each bonus card is 1 point; the most points in the whole game is 64. Round 2 (Winter Facts) works well on its own if Christmas is not part of your class.
Cutting That Is Easy For Students
Every card page has 8 cards edge to edge in 2 columns of 4, so each cut is a straight line. Cards are 3.8 by 2.2 inches. Print on card stock to keep the cards for next year.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
A print-and-cut PDF game. It is not a fillable PDF, a slide show or a game board with a device: nothing to project, nothing to log in to. It does not teach religious beliefs; the questions are facts about customs, songs, places and winter. The clip art kids on the teacher pages are Whimsy Clips and the fonts are KA Fonts; the file is secured so the art cannot be lifted out of it.
Who This Is For
Teachers in grades 3-6 (and special education teachers working at that level) who want a December party game, a sub plan, an indoor-recess activity or a center that needs no prep beyond cutting.
