About this resource
A counting and simple-math kit for kindergarten and first grade: count to 10 and to 20 with vector
dots and stars, build number sense with ten frames, add and subtract with pictures, and match a
numeral to its quantity — with the record-keeping a classroom or small group needs around it.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (29 pages)
- 22 counting items across 4 pages — numbers 1 to 10 and 11 to 20, vector dots and stars, never a
repeated icon standing in for "objects to count"
- 18 ten-frame items across 4 pages — counting, to 20 with a double ten frame, and addition/
subtraction with a ten frame, within 10
- 18 picture addition/subtraction problems across 3 pages — within 10 and a mixed set within 20,
every answer computed by the file's own code, never typed by hand
- 40 cut-and-match cards (20 pairs) across 2 pages — numeral cards matched to quantity cards,
1–10 and 11–20, scrambled on purpose so the cutting and sorting is part of the task
- 2 answer keys, generated from the same data every worksheet uses
- 1 practice tracker (one student, six skill areas), 1 progress snapshot (a bar graph rolling the
six scores into one picture), and 1 class grid (whole class), type-in or print
- 1 family update — a note home with blanks for the week's skills and the district's own wording
- 1 home practice page — a second, self-contained practice set for a family to use together, with
no school materials needed
- 1 filled example — an invented student, every number checked against its own table
- 1 phrase bank — progress-note, family-note, next-step and talk-first starters
- 1 binder cover with a spine label and six divider tabs
- Start Here, a how-it-works page, and a contents page that gives every page number
No Clip Art
Every counter — a dot, a star, a square — is a plain vector shape drawn by this file's own code:
a CSS circle, a CSS rounded square, or a five-point star cut with `clip-path`. Nothing here is a
licensed icon standing in for an object to count, so there is no picture that can name the wrong
thing.
Four Kinds Of Pages
Counting pages print a box of dots or stars to count and a line to write the number. Ten-frame
pages use the same 10-cell frame every time — filled squares to count, a second color for "more
added," or an X for "taken away." Picture addition/subtraction pages show the objects, then ask
for the number sentence. Cut-and-match pages print numeral cards and quantity cards in scrambled
order, on purpose.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, the "how many?" lines, the equation blanks, the tracker, the snapshot,
the class grid, the family update and the home page are type-in fields in any PDF reader; the
dots, stars and squares are always printed, never typed. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a
Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten and first-grade classrooms, self-contained and resource rooms, and any small group
working on counting, ten frames, or simple addition and subtraction below or above grade level.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
A counting and simple-math practice set with the record-keeping around it. It is not a full math
curriculum, not an assessment, and not a claim about any student's age, grade level or rate of
progress. The tracker has a blank line for your own scoring criteria.
