About this resource

Teaching digital footprints and want pages students can actually write on? This is a complete unit for grades 4-8 on what a digital footprint is, who can see it and how to shape it. It starts with two short readings in simple words and a two-kinds-of-footprint card, then moves to true or false, two cut-and-paste sorts (post it or keep it off, and active or passive), a think-before-you-post checklist, and an audit of three sample profiles marked red, yellow or green. Students then map their own footprint on a web, answer what-would-you-do questions, take two quizzes, write a reflection and finish with exit tickets. Every student page has a "My name" line, one short instruction and real room to write. Answer keys cover every scored item, and a tracker, a class grid, a team note and a family page are included.

The profiles and the students in them are invented, and the file says so on each page. The pages teach general habits. They do not name any app, game or website, and they do not say what any school, district or family requires: the reflection page and the tracker have blank lines for your own rules.

EVERYTHING INSIDE (32 pages, 17 student sheets)

Fillable PDF: click into any line or box, type, and save. You can also print any page and write by hand. It is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file.

What This Is, And What It Is Not

A digital footprint unit with the record-keeping around it. It is not a lab, a timed test, a screener, a clinical tool, or a claim about any student's age or rate of progress. There is no IEP goal language or eligibility wording anywhere in the file, and it does not claim to match any one state's standards: there is a line on the tracker for your own.

Who This Is For

Students in grades 4-8 who are learning about online privacy, in special education, resource and self-contained classrooms, or in any class that wants a sorting-and-writing unit with room to answer. Each page can be printed, filled in on screen, or both.
