About this resource
Executive functioning planning worksheets for grades 6-12. Teens plan the week, break a big assignment into steps, work backward from the due date, check what they need before they start, compare their time guesses with the clock, and look back on what got in the way. A six-week order tells you which pages to use when, and a log and roll-up count what happened.
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 31 pages
- A start-up routine poster with 5 steps: check, plan, gather, start, look back (color page and black-and-white ink-saver page)
- My Week: 7 day rows with the class and assignment, the due date, a first step and a done box
- My Classes: 6 class rows by 5 school days
- Order My Tasks: 8 task rows with due date, minutes, how hard (1-3) and the order
- Break Down an Assignment: 8 step rows with a time guess, a finish-by date and a done box
- Work Backward From Due Date: 6 rows from the due day back 5 days, with a tick box for each
- Before I Start Checklist: 10 boxes in 3 groups (my space, my stuff, my plan), plus a first step and a work time
- Time Estimate vs. Actual: 8 rows to write a guess, the actual minutes, the difference and what the student notices
- Materials Checklist: 6 class boxes, each with 5 printed items and one line to add
- My Weekly Self-Check: 5 things to check on 5 days = 25 circles to color
- What Got in My Way?: 10 things to tick, plus room to write what got in the way most and what to try next time
- My Weekly Review: a 1-5 circle, what worked, what did not, next week's try and a goal
- A Six-Week Order page (6 weeks, one focus each), a how-to page, a Planning Log (20 rows), a weekly roll-up (8 weeks) with a percent graph
- A filled example: an invented student, one week on the log, three weeks on the roll-up and week one's time guesses
- A family page, a hand-off page for another adult or class, a phrase bank (24 lines in 6 groups), and a label sheet (15 labels and a spine strip)
- Start Here — Three Steps, a contents page that maps every page, and a "what's next" back page
The Student Pages
Every student page has a "My name" line, one short instruction, big clear boxes and room to write. They are written for older students: plain words, no cartoon characters, no babyish pictures. Nothing in the file is cut apart; every page stays whole. The student in the filled example is invented.
A Six-Week Order
Week 1 see the week, week 2 order the tasks, week 3 break it down, week 4 start on time, week 5 guess and time, week 6 look back. The weekly self-check comes back each week. Use the pages in a different order if your class needs to.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the name lines, the planners, the log, the roll-up, the family page and the hand-off page, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers, resource teachers, study-hall and advisory teachers, counselors and paraprofessionals who work with students in grades 6-12 on planning and getting started, and the families who get the home page.
