About this resource
Fact family worksheets that a student can pick up and start: look at the house, write the four facts. One number on the roof, two numbers in the rooms, four facts to write. No timer, no score on the page, a "My name" line at the top and big boxes to write in.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (31 pages: 16 student pages, 15 for you)
- 20 different fact family houses within 10 and 20 different houses within 20 (every one used once), plus 3 double houses
- Meet a Fact Family: a model house with its four facts to read aloud, and a row of counters showing the parts (1 page)
- Fill the Gap, one blank in each fact: 3 houses within 10 and 3 within 20 (2 pages)
- Write the Four Facts in big boxes: 9 houses within 10 and 9 within 20 (6 pages)
- Double Houses: both rooms the same, write the two facts (3 houses, 1 page)
- Missing Number Houses: one number is missing from the house, find it and write the four facts, with a Show My Thinking box (4 houses, 2 pages)
- Circle It: circle the 3 facts out of 6 that belong in the house (3 houses), and circle the house where a fact lives, out of three (4 items) (2 pages)
- Cut and Glue: 2 pages, 8 fact pieces each (16 pieces), printed edge to edge in 2 rows of 4 so it takes 4 straight cuts; a glue box for every piece
- 2 answer keys (20 rows to 10, 23 rows to 20), a practice tracker, a progress snapshot bar graph, a filled example (an invented student), a family update, a home page, a phrase bank, a binder cover with spine and six divider tabs
- Start Here, a how-it-works page and a contents page with every page number
Built For The Child, Not The Office
Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture (a pencil, a book or scissors), rounded boxes at least half an inch tall, and, on every page except the two cutting pages, a star to color when finished. Everything for you (directions, answer keys, scoring) is on separate teacher pages.
Three Levels, Marked By Dots
One dot: every fact has one blank and all three numbers are in the house to copy. Two dots: write all four facts. Three dots: find the missing number first. The dots are the only level code, so children at one table are not comparing papers.
Every Fact Is Computed
Every fact in the file, on a worksheet, a sort piece or an answer key, is generated from the two parts of its house. Every circle-it fact is a true equation that does not belong to the house, so a child gets it right by reading the family, not by checking the sum.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, every fact box, the thinking boxes, the tracker, the snapshot and the family and home pages are type-in fields in any PDF reader; the houses, printed numbers and circle-it choices are always printed. Every page also prints clean in black and white. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten, first and second grade teachers, special education and resource room teachers, interventionists, and anyone who needs fact family practice at more than one level in one file.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
An untimed fact family worksheet set with the record-keeping around it. It is not a timed fluency probe, not a full math curriculum, and not a claim about any student's age, grade level or rate of progress. Doubles houses have two facts, not four, and are on their own page.
