About this resource
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 19 pages, 113 type-in fields
- A feelings faces board: three naming slots (I feel, You look, My friend feels) and a 10-picture match — with its own 10 cut-apart picture cards on the same sheet
- A feelings check-in and word-match board: three daily check-in slots (Today I feel, Right now I feel, At the end of the day I felt) and a word-to-face match — with 10 cut-apart word cards
- Both boards twice: a full-color set for a laminated binder and a black-and-white ink-saver set for the photocopier
- 26 cut-apart cards in all (16 picture cards, 10 word cards), counting the color set and the home page once
- A weekly tracker: 8 board jobs down, Monday to Friday across, one letter per cell (no help / pointed once / said the words / not run), a "no help" count per row and a week total
- A binder organizer: a front cover, a spine strip and nine divider tabs (three of them blank)
- A home version: a smaller set of the same naming-and-matching cards (6 cards) for the kitchen table, with a seven-day "we did it" row
- A family update with a team hand-off block for the next adult who runs the binder
- A phrase bank: 24 lines in 6 groups (spoken lines for naming and matching, written starters for the note afterward)
- A filled example — an invented student, one week, every count re-counted from its own row
- An answer key listing every board, the cards it takes and what correct looks like, plus the full word list (classroom set and home set)
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
A feeling-word vocabulary binder built for two skills at once: naming (I feel, you look) and a daily check-in with a word-to-face match, each with its own tracker row. It teaches ten feeling words the same way this collection's food and clothing binders teach their own words — name the card, match the card, request the card. It is not a screening tool, a coping-skills program or a self-regulation curriculum, and it never says what a facial expression means for a particular child; it is picture-and-word vocabulary with a tracker, a family update and a phrase bank behind it.
The Boards
- Feelings faces (page 6 in color, page 7 in ink-saver) — the board stays whole above a cut line; the card band below cuts apart. Three slots for naming phrases, and a 10-picture match (happy, calm, sad, crying, angry, scared, tired, sick, surprised, confused): the child matches the identical card onto its picture.
- Feelings check-in and word match (page 9 in color, page 10 in ink-saver) — three daily check-in slots, then a picture grid of the same ten faces that the child matches to its printed word card — reading practice on the same vocabulary, not the same task repeated.
The Words
- Feeling face cards (10): happy, calm, sad, crying, angry, scared, tired, sick, surprised, confused
- Feeling word cards (10): the same ten words, printed as word cards for the check-in board
- Home page — a smaller subset: 6 feeling cards (happy, calm, sad, crying, angry, scared)
Every picture was chosen to be named in one word by a young child, in color AND in the black-and-white ink-saver set — including the five faces that look most alike without color (sad, crying, scared, surprised, confused), each rendered side by side at print size and confirmed distinguishable from its neighbors before it was placed on a board.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the tracker, the organizer, the home page and the family update, or print and use a pen. The board pages print on cardstock or plain paper; the card band cuts off the bottom and the board stays whole. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a screening or assessment tool.
It does not say what a facial expression means for a particular child, and it carries no coping-strategy or self-regulation content. It carries no prompt hierarchy, fading schedule or mastery rule, and it does not decide what a count means for a student or when a board is done with. The tracker counts which boards were done and what help was given naming or matching a feeling word, and nothing else.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers and paraprofessionals running feeling-word vocabulary practice with early, pre-reading or low-verbal students, case managers who need that practice to show up as data, and the families who get the home page.
More In The Collection
This is the fourth binder in the Morning Work & Adapted Books Collection; more matching binders are being added to the collection regularly, all on the same boards-plus-tracker shape.
