About this resource
Cut-and-paste feelings activities for kindergarten and special education, built around 4 color zones: blue, green, yellow and red. Big pictures, one short direction per page, and pieces sized for small hands. It works alongside zones-based emotional regulation programs, and the teacher page shows how to use your own school's words and colors with it.
WHAT'S INSIDE (30 pages)
- Feelings sort: cut out 12 feelings faces (happy, calm, proud, sad, tired, sick, silly, worried, excited, frustrated, mad, scared) and glue each one onto a 4-color mat. Each color column has a face and the color word at the top.
- Body clues: 8 picture cards (tears, yawning, big smile, calm body, wiggly body, fast heart, tight fists, hot face) to glue onto the 4 colors.
- Calm-down choices: an "I can..." board and 8 picture cards (deep breaths, drink water, hug a stuffy, count to 5, ask for a break, quiet corner, read a book, listen to music). The child picks the choices they like; there is also a box to draw their own idea.
- What happened? 6 picture stories (my ice cream fell, birthday party, loud thunder, lost my teddy, a new friend, bedtime), 3 to a page, with each page at both levels (4 pages). The child glues a feelings face next to each one; each page has 5 faces to choose from.
- My color today: a check-in strip with the 4 colors and 5 "me" star markers, plus a choice board (I feel / I can / or) with 12 cards to cut and laminate.
- A Start Here teacher page and an answer key.
- Ink-saver copies of all 13 student pages.
- A "What's next" back page with credits and your license.
Two Levels
Every sort and match comes in two levels, marked with a small shape so children don't compare:
- Starting (circle): a faint copy of each answer is printed in its box, so the child matches picture to picture.
- Building (square): the same page with empty boxes.
Made For Kindergarten Hands
- The pieces children cut and glue are about 1.4 to 1.55 inches square and sit edge to edge, so every cut is one straight line. Every cutting page has at least 5 pieces.
- Each picture has a short label. Each student page has a name line and one short direction with a picture.
- The feelings faces and the kid figures are drawn in one friendly style, with one clue each a young child already knows: a tear, sleepy Zs, a thermometer, a sweat drop, shaky lines.
