About this resource
Looking for fraction strips you can print, cut and use today? This set has 30 cut-out strips on 5 sheets in color, black and white, and blank, covering 9 sizes: whole, halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, eighths, tenths and twelfths. Every strip is the same length, so a student can line two strips up and see which fraction is bigger or which fractions are equal. Then put the strips to work: 18 worksheets with 108 problems ask students to name a fraction, shade a strip, compare two fractions, find the bigger or smaller one and find equal fractions.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (42 pages)
- 30 strips to cut on 5 sheets: 12 color strips (2 sheets), 12 black-and-white strips (2 sheets) and 6 blank strips to label and color yourself. Six tall strips side by side on each page, so cutting is straight lines between neighbors.
- 2 fraction strip charts, one in color and one in black and white, showing all 9 sizes stacked and labeled
- 18 student worksheets, 108 problems: 21 name-the-fraction, 20 shade-the-strip, 27 compare (less than, greater than, equal), 14 bigger-or-smaller and 26 equal-fractions problems
- A page of seven things to do with the strips, with five sentence frames for talking about them
- 2 answer-key pages for every problem, a tracker for all 18 worksheets, a filled example (an invented student), a family page and Start Here
- A binder cover with a spine strip, 5 divider tabs and a What's Next page
Three Levels
A small shape in the top corner of each worksheet tells you the level: a circle (5 sheets) is starting, with small denominators and the most help on the page; a square (5 sheets) is building, with the standard task; a triangle (8 sheets) is ready for more, with larger denominators, unshaded strips to shade yourself and mixed review.
How It Works
1. Print and cut the strips. Turn each strip sideways to use it. Print at 100 percent so the strips stay the same length.
2. Keep the chart on the table, then print a worksheet and hand it over. One short instruction, one job.
3. Check with the key and write the date and score on the tracker.
Built For The Child Holding The Page
A big "My name" line, big numbers, a border and room to write. Answer boxes are at least half an inch tall. Nothing on a student page is written for an adult; the keys and tracker are on separate teacher pages. The strips are drawn the same way on every page, one color per size, and the black-and-white set prints on its own pages.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
