About this resource

Letter names and sounds assessment for fall, winter and spring, in one fillable PDF: three forms, each with an uppercase sheet, a lowercase sheet and a letter sounds sheet in a different scrambled order, a scoring page for each form, a student record, a class record sheet and a growth summary. Big letters, a "My name" line and one short instruction on every student sheet. Type the scores and dates, or print and pen them.

What This Is, And What It Is Not

It is a fillable PDF. Open it in a PDF reader, click a box, type, press Tab to move on, and Save As once per student. The student sheets print. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT a Google Slides, Google Docs or Sheets file, and it does not add the totals for you: you count the marks and type the number.

It is not a norm-referenced test and it is not a curriculum. It has no benchmark, cut score, grade-level expectation, time limit or stop rule; those belong to your team and your district, and the How the Assessment Works page has a line to write each one on. The key words on the sound key are reminders, and a blank column is there for what your district accepts. The student in the example is invented.

Who This Is For

Kindergarten and first grade teachers, special education teachers and case managers, reading interventionists, and paraprofessionals who need to check letter names and sounds three times a year and keep one record for each student and one for the whole class.
