About this resource
A missing-numbers kit for kindergarten and first grade: fill in the blank on a number line, a
hundred chart row, a hundred chart grid section, or numbers alone — plus the record-keeping a
classroom or small group needs around it.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (22 pages)
- 12 number line items across 2 pages — a strip within 20, one to three blanks each
- 8 hundred chart row items across 2 pages — a full row of the hundred chart, within 100
- 8 hundred chart grid items across 2 pages — a 3x3 section using the chart's own +1/+10
pattern, within 100
- 12 before/between/after items on 1 page — no chart at all, the quick, abstract version
- 1 answer key, generated from the same numbers every worksheet uses
- 1 practice tracker (one student, four formats), 1 progress snapshot (a bar graph rolling the
four scores into one picture), and 1 class grid (whole class), type-in or print
- 1 family update — a note home with blanks for the week's formats and the district's own
wording
- 1 home practice page — a second, self-contained practice set for a family to use together,
with no school materials needed
- 1 filled example — an invented student, every number checked against its own table
- 1 phrase bank — progress-note, family-note, next-step and talk-first starters
- 1 binder cover with a spine label and six divider tabs
- Start Here, a how-it-works page, and a contents page that gives every page number
Every Missing Number Computed, Never Typed
Every number that fills a blank in this file — on a worksheet page or on the answer key — is
computed from the strip or grid it belongs to (a number line by counting on, a hundred-chart row
or grid by its own row-and-column pattern). There is no second, hand-typed key.
Four Ways To Practice
Number line pages show a strip of consecutive numbers with one to three blanks — count on or
back to fill each one. Hundred chart row pages show one full row of the chart. Hundred chart
grid pages show a 3x3 piece of the chart, where moving right adds one and moving down adds ten.
The before/between/after page shows just three numbers in a row, no chart at all — the most
abstract version, for a student ready to name a missing number without a picture of the numbers
around it.
Type In, Or Print
Every blank number box, the name and date lines, the tracker, the snapshot, the class grid, the
family update and the home page are type-in fields in any PDF reader; every number already
printed on a strip, row or grid is always printed, never typed. This is a fillable PDF; it is not
a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten and first-grade classrooms, self-contained and resource rooms, and any small group
working on number sequence and hundred-chart skills below or above grade level.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
A missing-numbers practice set with the record-keeping around it. It is not a full math
curriculum, not an assessment, and not a claim about any student's age, grade level or rate of
progress. The tracker has a blank line for your own scoring criteria.
