About this resource
A multiple-meaning-words kit built around one core skill — a student drawing and writing BOTH
meanings of a word — plus four more genuinely different ways to practice the same ten-word bank:
matching a word to its two meanings, circling the meaning that fits a sentence, writing the meaning
with no choices given, and a cut-and-glue review page. Two answer keys, a progress tracker, a team
note, a home practice page, a filled-in example, a phrase bank, and a binder cover with divider tabs.
WHAT IS INCLUDED - 29 pages
Start Here And How To Use
- Start Here - the three steps, a chooser table (which page for which child), and everything-inside counts
- How to Use This Pack - a legend for every mark on a page (the draw box, the circle, the blank box, the cut line), the dot system explained, and one worked example
The Helper
- What Is a Multiple Meaning Word? - one page explaining the idea, with ring as the worked example, before the independent pages
Ten Words In Five Genuinely Different Formats
- Draw and Write (4 pages) - the core task: two big boxes per word, one for each meaning, with a line to write the word under each picture; covers all 10 words, 2-3 per page, with real room to draw
- Match the Meanings (3 pages, Sets A/B/C) - a word on the left, its two meanings shuffled into a longer list on the right, one line per word pair
- Circle the Meaning (3 pages, Sets A/B/C) - a sentence with the word in context, circle which of two meanings fits
- Write the Meaning (3 pages, Sets A/B/C) - a different sentence for the same words, a word bank given, no answer choices on the sentence itself
- Cut and Glue the Meaning (1 page) - 8 meaning cards (4 words) cut and glued beside the correct word, pieces edge to edge in a 4-column grid
Answering, Tracking And Reporting
- Answer Key 1 - Draw/Write accepted meanings and Match answers, plus a ten-word quick-reference table
- Answer Key 2 - Circle, Write the Meaning and Cut/Glue answers, plus a note on where each sentence comes from
- Progress Tracker - 16 rows to date and check off pages against the keys
- Team Note / Note Home - a family update or team hand-off with blanks for the district's own wording
- Practice at Home - the same ten words with both meanings, three try-at-home steps, talk-first questions, a weekly tally
- Filled Example: Micah - an invented second grader, every number checked against its own table
- Phrase Bank - 20 observable-language starters for notes, grouped by accuracy, what the student did, next steps, and talk-first questions
- Binder Cover and Divider Tabs - a binder cover listing all ten words by set, and 6 divider tabs plus a spine label to cut out
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable-and-print PDF. Every line a student writes on and every teacher-page blank can be typed into and saved, or the whole thing can be printed and used with a pencil. It is NOT a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file, and it does not grade itself — the answer keys are for a teacher or a paraprofessional to check against.
It is a classroom worksheet pack, not a progress-monitoring probe: it does not time an administration, does not carry a goal box, and makes no claim about how quickly any student should learn this skill. The filled example names an invented student and says so on the page; no real student's information is on any page.
Who This Is For
Second grade teachers (and first grade classes ready for it), special education teachers and reading interventionists building vocabulary or reading-comprehension practice around multiple meaning words, and the paraprofessionals who run small-group practice.
