About this resource
A multiplication chart for third grade, filled and blank, in one file: a 1-12 chart to read, a 1-10 mini chart to keep at the desk, a blank 1-12 chart for the child to fill in, and charts with some of the numbers missing. Then the patterns inside the chart, practice that uses it, and cut and glue. Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction, and boxes made for a child's handwriting. Untimed: no clock, no score on the page.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (37 pages: 21 student pages, 16 for you)
- The filled 1-12 times table (page 6), with the square numbers shaded along the diagonal, and a 1-10 mini chart, four to a page (page 7)
- A blank multiplication chart, 12 by 12: 144 empty boxes with the numbers 1 to 12 printed along the top and the side (page 8)
- 3 partly filled charts that fill in at three levels: 24, 40 and 64 missing numbers (128 boxes in all, pages 9-11)
- Look: how to read the chart (find the side number, find the top number, go across and down) and the same fact made with rows of dots (1 page)
- Skip Count Rows: 10 rows to count up, from the 2s to the 12s, with 50 empty boxes (2 pages)
- Square Numbers (12 dot squares from 1 x 1 to 12 x 12), Turn Around (8 turn-around facts), Even Numbers (a 1-10 chart to color, where 25 of the 100 squares are odd), and Color the Multiples of 5, 3 and 9 (3 pages, 144 squares each)
- Use the Chart: 8 products to find and 8 missing factors to find, plus Dots to Facts, 5 pictures of dots to write a fact for (3 pages)
- Cut and Glue: six pieces a page in a 3 by 2 block, three straight cuts; facts glued to their answers, six multiples of one number glued in order from smallest to biggest, and answers glued to their facts (18 pieces, 3 pages)
- 3 answer keys, a tracker (18 rows, 385 items), a class grid, a team note, a home page with a small chart to fill in, a filled example (an invented student), a phrase and strategy bank (17 starters), a binder cover and 6 divider tabs with a spine label
- Start Here, a how-it-works page and a "What's next" back page
Built For The Child, Not The Office
Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture, rounded boxes for a child's handwriting, and plenty of room. Everything for you (directions, answer keys, scoring) is on separate teacher pages. No clip art: the only pictures are the charts and the dot arrays.
Three Levels, Marked By Dots
One dot: starting (a filled chart to look at, a few missing numbers, the 2s, 5s and 10s). Two dots: building (more missing numbers, the whole chart blank, cut and glue in order). Three dots: ready for more (the most boxes missing, the harder rows). The dots are the only level code, so children at one table are not comparing papers.
Every Number Is Computed
Every product in every chart, every key row and every cut piece is row times column, read from the same two numbers that place it. There is no second, hand-typed key. Where an answer sits (which boxes are blank, which piece goes in which cell) is placed by a seeded shuffle that rejects any order a child could guess.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, every chart box, every answer box, the tracker, class grid, team note and home page are type-in fields in any PDF reader. The Color the Multiples and Even Numbers pages ask for a crayon or pencil, so they are made to print; the cut pieces are always printed. Every page also prints clean in black and white. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Third grade teachers, fourth grade teachers who need a refresher, special education and resource room teachers, interventionists, and families who want the same method at home, with the tracking and home pages already made.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
An untimed practice set built around the multiplication table, with the record-keeping around it. It is not a timed fluency probe or a goal page, not a full multiplication curriculum, and not a claim about any student's grade level or rate of progress. It covers factors from 1 to 12; there are no division facts, no two-digit factors and no word problems.
