About this resource
Number tracing for 0 to 20 in one file: every number drawn big and outlined like a road, with a start dot and an arrow showing where the pencil begins. Children trace the number, count pictures to match it, write it in a box made for a child's handwriting, color that many circles, fill in missing numbers and cut and glue. Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction and plenty of room. Untimed: no clock, no score on the page.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (36 pages: 21 student pages, 15 for you)
- Look: how to trace with a 3 and a 4 (the big dot, the arrow, the road, and a number with two dots) (1 page)
- Big Number: two numbers a page, drawn huge, to trace; pictures to count; two small ones to trace; three boxes to write (6 pages: 0 and 1, 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 and 7, 8 and 9, 10 and 20)
- Trace and Write: a model, two to trace and three boxes to write, for 0 to 5, 6 to 10, 11 to 15 and 16 to 20 (4 pages, 21 rows)
- Trace 0 to 20: all 21 numbers on one page, each with its start dot and arrow (1 page)
- Count and Write: count the pictures and trace the number (1 to 5), write the number (6 to 10) and write the number (11 to 20) (3 pages, 16 cards)
- Color It: a number and ten circles in two groups of five, color that many (1 page, 6 cards)
- Missing Numbers: 12 strips of 8 boxes counting up, 18 empty boxes on the first page and 24 on the second (2 pages)
- Cut and Glue: count and glue the number (1 to 6), count and glue the number (5 to 10), and glue six numbers in order from smallest to biggest (18 pieces, 3 pages, six pieces a page in a 3 by 2 block, three straight cuts)
- 2 answer keys (one includes a picture of every start dot, 0 to 9), a tracker (20 rows, 136 items), a class grid, a team note, a home page with 1, 2 and 3 to trace, a filled example (an invented student), a phrase and strategy bank (17 starters), a binder cover and 6 divider tabs with a spine label
- Start Here, a how-it-works page and a "What's next" back page
Built For The Child, Not The Office
Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture, rounded boxes for a child's handwriting with a faint line across the middle, and room to work. Everything for you (directions, answer keys, scoring) is on separate teacher pages. The numerals and the pictures to count (apples, stars, fish, balls, flowers, hearts, ladybugs, balloons) are drawn by Bright Path Sped.
Three Levels, Marked By Dots
One dot: starting (trace the road, count a few pictures, errorless gluing). Two dots: building (write on your own, count to 10, color that many). Three dots: ready for more (count to 20, missing numbers past 10). The dots are the only level code, so children at one table are not comparing papers.
Every Count Is Read From The Page
Every picture group is drawn from the same list that the key and the tracker read, and the build stops if a group does not match its count. On the cut-and-glue pages no number sits directly under its own card, so cutting straight across and gluing straight down never gives the answer.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, every answer box, the tracker, class grid, team note and home page are type-in fields in any PDF reader. The tracing and coloring pages ask for a pencil or crayon, so they are made to print; the cut pieces are always printed. Every page also prints clean in black and white: the road is an outline with a dashed line down the middle. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
PreK and kindergarten teachers, special education and resource room teachers, interventionists, and families who want the same method at home, with the tracking and home pages already made.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
An untimed practice set for writing and counting the numbers 0 to 20, with the record-keeping around it. The start dots show one common way to write each number; if your school teaches it differently, say so out loud when you hand over the page. It is not a handwriting program, not a timed fluency probe or a goal page, and not a claim about any student's grade level or rate of progress.
