About this resource
Rhyming is a listening skill until a child has to prove it on paper. This gives that proof three
ways: circle the picture that rhymes, circle the two pictures (of three) that rhyme, or write the
rhyming word for a picture with no text at all.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (19 pages)
The Three Formats, Every Set
1. Circle the Rhyme (most support) — a picture with its word, then three picture-only choices.
Circle the one whose name rhymes with the target.
2. Which Two Rhyme? — three pictures, no words at all. Circle the TWO whose names rhyme; the third
is the odd one out.
3. Write the Rhyming Word (least support) — the target picture and word are given; a second picture
has no text. Write its name; it always rhymes with the first.
The dots on the name line are the format code, there for the teacher: no student or home page
carries the word "Level."
Two Sets, Every Format
Only seven rhyme families passed this store's own picture-naming check (most of a typical rhyme
bank is unpicturable in isolation — colour words, ordinal numbers, abstract words), so each format
ships as two full practice pages instead of one: the same seven families, a fresh distractor picture
draw and a fresh shuffle of every answer position, so no column or position on any page always holds
the right answer. Set 2 is more practice, not new content, and page 5 says so.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, the tracker, the class grid, the team note and the home page are type-in
fields in any PDF reader. The circling and the writing a student does are always pencil work. This
is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten and first-grade classrooms, self-contained and resource rooms, and any teacher moving a
student from judging a rhyme to producing one. The home page sends the same job to a family; the
team note hands off what changed since the last meeting.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
A rhyming practice set with the record-keeping around it. It is not a listening assessment, not a
speech-language evaluation tool, and not a claim about any student's age or rate of progress. The
how-it-works page has a blank line for your district's own criterion.
