About this resource
Six months of a self-contained classroom, planned. September, October, November, December, January and February Print and Go together, at 35% off buying them one at a time.
You open the packet to today, print what is behind the plan page, and teach it. Every one of the 360 lessons has its own printable plan page with a word-for-word script on it. Not a topic, not a suggestion of what to talk about - the actual sentences, in quotation marks, that you read out loud. A substitute or a paraprofessional who has never seen the lesson can pick the page up cold and run it.
WHAT IS IN THE BUNDLE - 6 PDFs, 1308 pages
Across the six files: 120 days, 360 lesson plan pages, 840 student pages, 48 answer key pages, 24 week dividers, and a month-at-a-glance map and a start-up guide in each file.
How The Six Months Fit
Each month picks up exactly where the one before it stops. The page layout does not change - a student who has learned how the September pages work does not relearn them in October, November, December, January or February - and the skills advance: counting becomes taking away becomes counting on and back becomes strategy and geometry becomes comparing groups and repeating patterns becomes story problems that cross back through ten; beginning sounds become word families become digraphs and blends become suffixes and longer sight-word decades become vowel-lengthening silent E become r-controlled vowels and a further sight-word decade; arrival routines become what to do when something goes wrong becomes helping at home and being out in the community becomes turn-taking and flexible thinking with other children becomes trying something new and a calm-body routine becomes peer conflict and making up after a disagreement. Every month also works on its own: week 1 of each block re-teaches what it needs before it asks for anything new, so a class that never saw an earlier month can still start on its Day 1.
What Is On Every Plan Page
- The objective, written the way an IEP goal is written.
- SAY THIS - the script. Spoken lines are in quotation marks; the gray italic lines are stage directions telling you what to hold up or do with your hands.
- What each of the three levels actually gives the student, so you can pick without printing all three to compare.
- IF A STUDENT IS STUCK - things you can do in the next ten seconds, at the table, without fetching anything.
- A data box. Student, correct, out of, date, and how much help: independent, verbal prompt, model, hand over hand. It is on the plan page rather than a separate data sheet, because a separate data sheet does not get filled in.
- A notes box at the foot for what you actually saw.
How The Three Levels Work
Math and reading come at three levels every single day. Social skills is one page a day.
Level 1 - errorless. There are exactly as many pieces on the strip as there are boxes, so there is no wrong piece to pick up.
Level 2 - one spare piece on the strip that belongs to nothing. The student has to reject something instead of matching everything.
Level 3 - the supports are gone. No cue, no printed model, and the items are chosen to be confusable rather than convenient.
The three pages look the same on the desk. Nobody's paper is obviously the easy one.
A Note On The Social Skills Pages
Across all six months, the cards on the social skills sorting pages are short printed sentences that the teacher reads aloud, not pictures, and every script tells you to read them before anybody picks up scissors. That is on purpose. The lessons are about people, events and decisions - a big problem or a little one, on topic or off - and a decorative icon that does not name the sentence hands a non-reader a shape cue instead of a skill. Two October days and three November days whose cards name real objects carry a picture on every card; December's, January's and February's cards are text-only throughout, since turn-taking, flexible thinking, trying something new, a calm body and peer conflict have no single object a picture can name honestly. The math and reading student pages are picture-led throughout.
Format
Six print-and-go PDFs. Scissors and a glue stick is the entire materials list for all six months. Nothing to laminate, no counters, no cards to cut apart in advance - the student does the cutting, and the cutting is part of the work.
Who This Is For
Self-contained and resource rooms, early intervention, life skills, and any elementary room with a wide skill range in it. It is also built to be handed to somebody else: a sub, a new para, a student teacher, or the person covering your room the week you are out.
Not A Calendar
Nothing in here is tied to a date. Day 1 is the first day you teach it. If you start on the 8th, or you skip a Friday, or a month takes you six weeks, it still works.
