About this resource
EVERYTHING INSIDE (28 pages)
The Three Formats, Every Set
1. Trace It (most support) — a faded, light-ink copy of the word, printed twice, to trace directly
over in pencil.
2. Write It — no model at all. The word is printed once for reference, then two blank ruled lines
to write it again from memory.
3. Complete the Sentence (least support) — no word is printed, only its row number. The student
reads a sentence with a single blank and writes the missing word from memory. The same-numbered
row on that set's Trace It or Write It page is the answer key.
The Five Sets
Type In, Or Print
The name and date line, the tracker, the class grid, the team note and the home page are type-in
fields in any PDF reader. The tracing, the writing and the sentence blanks are always pencil work.
This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten and first-grade classrooms, self-contained and resource rooms, and any teacher moving
a group through the Fry first-100 at different paces. The home page sends the same routine to a
family; the team note hands off what changed since the last meeting.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
A sight-word trace/write/sentence practice set with the record-keeping around it. It is not a
reading assessment and not a claim about any student's age or rate of progress. Nothing inside
implies free composition where the page is really a fill-in-the-blank.
