About this resource
Who? Does what? Where? Mix three picture cards and you have a silly sentence the whole group wants to read out loud. This is 28 pages of cards to cut, mats to glue and sentences to write. Print what you need, or type on the name lines and notes first.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (28 pages)
- 12 who cards (picture and word), 12 does what cards (word) and 12 where cards (picture and words): 36 cards that make 1,728 different silly sentences.
- 12 mixed cards to sort into who, does what and where, with a sort mat.
- 2 glue mats: build a sentence, and build it then write it.
- 3 write-your-own sheets in 3 levels (marked with a circle, a square and a triangle).
- Silly or real, find the parts, and put the parts in order, each with a modeled first item.
- 2 draw-and-write sheets.
- 48 cards to cut, each printed in color and in ink-saver (96 pieces on 8 cut sheets), edge to edge so each cut is one straight line.
- Teacher sheets: start here, how to use it (5 short routines), a key with sample sentences, a class check-off sheet and a family note.
- Terms of use and a thank-you page that points to related resources.
How To Use It
Read the "Silly Sentences have 3 parts" sheet together. Children cut and sort the mixed cards, then cut a set of who, does what and where cards and glue a silly sentence on a mat. Write pages turn the cards into sentences children write, find, put in order and draw.
Built For The Child Holding The Page
Every student sheet has a big "My name" line, one short direction with a picture and room to work. Who, does what and where each have their own color. Pictures show one thing each. Cut sheets come in color and ink-saver, and everything reads in black and white.
Type In, Or Print
The name lines, the word lines on the write pages, the check-off sheet and the family note are type-in fields in any PDF reader (213 fields in all). You can also print and write by hand. Print at 100 percent with fit-to-page turned off. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten to 2nd grade classrooms, self-contained and resource rooms, centers and small groups.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
Working paper for practice. It is not a curriculum, a test or a standards map, and it promises no outcome.
