About this resource
A 25-word spelling test needs 25 numbered lines a child can really write on. This is that page, plus the pages around it: a typed word list and answer key for you, a mark-the-test page, a fix-my-misses page, a graph the child colors and a class score record. Type your list once on the answer-key page, read from it, and print the test.
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 19 pages
- Spelling Test, 25 Words on One Page: 25 numbered lines in two columns, each 0.5 in tall or more, a name and date line and a score box ("out of 25")
- Big-Lines Test in two pages: words 1 to 13 and words 14 to 25, a longer line for each word, a mark box and a score box
- Bonus: Write the Sentence: 5 numbered sentence lines, two ruled lines each, and a score box out of 5
- Word List and Answer Key: 25 rows to type each word once, with a sentence you will say and a notes box
- Mark the Test: 25 numbered check boxes, Right plus Missed always making 25, and a place for words to practice again
- Fix My Misses: 10 rows with the right word, the child's try and two more tries
- Practice Cards to Cut: 12 cards in one block, with a box to type each word
- My Test Graph: 8 tests, 25 circles in each row, to color for each right word
- Class Score Record: 18 student rows by 7 tests, with a Best column
- A note home with blanks in your own words
- A phrase bank of 32 starters in 8 groups
- A marked, filled-in example: one invented child, Theo, 25 invented practice words, every count re-added from its own table
- A binder cover, a spine label and 8 cut-apart tabs
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
Most 25-word test pages are one blank numbered sheet. This one also gives you the key, the marking, the fixing and the record, so the week after the test is already planned.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type your 25 words once on the answer-key page, or print it and write them in by hand. The test pages for children never print a word, so the same pages work every week. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file, and it does not copy your words from one page to the next or check spelling for you. You cannot drag the boxes around or restyle the pages.
There is no word list in it. The words are yours, and which words, how many a child learns and what a score means is your classroom's rule. The example uses 25 invented practice words, not a list for any grade. No health information is filled in. The example child is invented and says so on the page. The cutting is the 12 practice cards and the 8 binder tabs, each in one block with straight cuts.

Who This Is For
First through fifth grade classroom teachers, special education teachers and paraprofessionals who give a weekly spelling test, families helping at home, and the children who write the words.
