About this resource

A child who can pick the right three-letter blend out of three choices is not automatically a

child who can spell it with no choices printed. This gives both jobs their own page, for six

three-letter consonant blends — scr, spl, spr, squ, str, thr — plus a Mixed Blends review: say the

picture, circle the three letters you hear, then write the three letters that start the word.

EVERYTHING INSIDE (27 pages)

letter-cluster choices) and Write It (the rest of the word is printed, write the missing letters)

High Contrast) so a wrong picture never becomes a wrong answer key — no repeats within a blend

that gives every page number, plus a gallery of all 10 pictured words

The Two Formats, Every Blend

1. Circle It (recognition) — a picture and three letter-cluster choices underneath. Say the word,

listen for the blend, circle the one you hear.

2. Write It (production) — the same picture, the rest of the word printed, the blend left blank.

Say the word, write the three missing letters.

Every blend in this pack opens the word, so every tile carries the same "Starts with" label —

position is never a guess. No student page carries the word "Level."

The Six Three-Letter Blends

scr, spl, spr, squ, str and thr, plus a Mixed Blends review that reuses one flagship picture from

each blend for discrimination practice. A picture is only used where it names one thing and

nothing else — a wrong picture is a wrong answer key — so three-letter blends, being far rarer in

picturable English than two-letter blends, leave four of the six blends with only one safe

pictured word; that word repeats as fresh "Try 1 / Try 2…" practice with new letter choices or a

new blank each time, so the page is a full page of practice, not one small picture on an empty

sheet. Page 5 lists exactly how many pictured words are in each blend.

Type In, Or Print

The name and date lines, the tracker, the class grid, the team note and the home page are type-in

fields in any PDF reader. The circles and the letters a student writes are always pencil work.

This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file.

Who This Is For

First and second grade classrooms, self-contained and resource rooms, and any teacher moving a

student from recognizing a three-letter blend to spelling it. The home page sends the same job to

a family; the team note hands off what changed since the last meeting.

What This Is, And What It Is Not

A worksheet pack: say the picture, circle it or write it. It is NOT a two-letter blend pack — this

store's Beginning S/L/R Blends Worksheets cover sn/sp/st/sw/sk/sm, bl/cl/fl/gl/pl/sl and

br/cr/dr/fr/gr/tr, one letter shorter; nothing here is cut or glued. It is not a reading

assessment, not a speech-language evaluation tool, and not a claim about any student's age or rate

of progress. The how-it-works page has a blank line for your district's own criterion.
