About this resource
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 23 pages, 215 type-in fields
- 17 core vocabulary word cards, 2 inches square: go, stop, more, want, help, like, look, all done, yes, no, eat, drink, play, in, out, up, down — split across three ring sheets (six, six, five) so the pieces thread straight onto a one-inch book ring
- Every card twice: a full-color set for the ring and a black-and-white ink-saver set for a spare ring or a second adult
- A "what to say with each card" reference printed right on every card sheet, so the ring and the spoken word never separate
- 12 blank ring cards with a type-in word line, for any word the printed set does not cover
- A how-to page: building the ring (cut, punch, thread), picking what travels on it, flipping to a word, waiting for a response, writing down what changes, one ring for several adults, sending it home and handing it off
- A Flip Ring Log (16 rows: date, setting, word used, independent Y/N, help given, initials)
- A weekly roll-up (8 weeks) with a percent-independent graph
- A filled example — an invented student, one day across five settings and three weeks on the roll-up, every percent re-counted from its own row
- A family page with six home practice cards, the line to say with each one, and a week of home tries to initial
- A hand-off page so a paraprofessional, specials teacher or substitute carries the same ring the same way
- A phrase bank: 24 lines in 6 groups (what to say when a card is shown, written starters for the log, the roll-up and the note home)
- A storage and binder label sheet: 11 labels and a spine strip
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
The collection's flat wall board (Core Vocabulary Communication Board) stays in one spot; the lanyard cue ring (a different product) is worn by an adult who offers a cue to a student. This one is carried BY the student: clipped to a backpack strap, a belt loop, a wheelchair tray or a desk hook, the same 17 core words cut to a small card, punched near the top edge and threaded onto a one-inch book ring, so the vocabulary travels wherever the student goes instead of staying on one wall.
The Words
- Core vocabulary (17) — go, stop, more, want, help, like, look, all done, yes, no, eat, drink, play, in, out, up, down
Every picture and word is the same one the Core Vocabulary Communication Board set already uses on its board, so a buyer who owns both sees the same card mean the same thing in both places. Cards are 2 inches square; a hole punched near the top edge, inside the dashed cut line, keeps the picture and the word clear of the ring.
The Ring Sheets
- Ring Sheet A and Ring Sheet B — six word cards each, cut apart and punched, color or ink-saver
- Ring Sheet C — the remaining five word cards, cut apart and punched, color or ink-saver
Every card prints at the same 2-inch size, so a card from any sheet sits on the ring next to a card from any other sheet without a size mismatch.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, the roll-up, the family page, the hand-off page and the blank cards, or print and use a pen. The card sheets print on cardstock or plain paper, cut along dashed lines, and punch near the top edge for a one-inch book ring (sold separately). It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
It is a way for a student to carry a core vocabulary picture set that travels with them instead of staying on one wall, and for an adult to write down whether a word was found and shown independently. It is not a speech-generating device, a behavior plan or a program of any kind, and it promises no outcome. It carries no prompting method or order to teach the words in; how the ring is used with a student, and for how long, is what your team's plan says. The goal line and the criterion field are blanks for your district's own wording and your team's own number.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers, speech-language professionals and paraprofessionals supporting a student who communicates with core vocabulary pictures and needs that vocabulary to move through the building — the classroom, the hallway, specials, the bus, home — plus the case managers who need that use to show up as data, and the families who get the home page sent home.
More In The Collection
This single sits alongside Core Vocabulary Communication Board (AAC), Lanyard Cue Cards for Special Education, and First Then Board and Activity Picture Cards in the Visual Supports Collection; more picture-card sets — schedule cards, routine strips, choice boards — are being added to the collection regularly, all on the same cards-plus-data shape.
