About this resource
Circle the lowercase letter that matches, find and color every one in a grid, then draw a line from uppercase to lowercase — a complete kit for telling letters apart by sight, for the child who is not yet ready to trace them. One page per letter, all 26, plus quick line-match pages and two full-alphabet reviews, a tracker, a class grid, a team note, a home page and a filled example.
WHAT IS INCLUDED - 45 pages, 626 type-in fields
Setup
- Start Here - a one-page quick start: what this is for, the three steps, which page for which situation
- How It Works - the cue, the choice row, the search grid and the line-match columns explained, plus why b/d, p/q and n/u are printed together on purpose
- Letter Index - every letter's page number, and which letters share a reversal pair on their page
26 Letter Match Pages, A To Z
- Each page: the target letter shown upper and lower together, a row of 5 lowercase choices to circle the match (the correct letter plus 4 distractors, never a repeat), and a 30-letter find-and-color search grid where the target letter appears exactly 6 times
- The b/d, p/q and n/u pairs — the letter shapes a beginning reader most often reverses — are printed together in the choice row on every page where one of those six letters is the target
Quick And Whole-Alphabet Review
- 4 Match with a Line pages - uppercase letters in alphabetical order on the left, lowercase letters in a rotated order on the right, so no row lines up by position and the match has to be read, not guessed
- 2 Whole-Alphabet Review pages - the identical line-match task at full scale, A to M and N to Z
Tracking And Reporting
- Letter Match Tracker - one row per letter (26 rows): the date each Letter Match page was done and how many of the 6 matches were found and colored in the grid, plus a small table for the 4 line-match and 2 review pages
- Class Letter Roll-Up - one student per row, all 26 letters as columns, type-in or print
- Team Note - an observable progress note and next-step page for a team hand-off
- Home Page - the same job for a family: how to help at home in three steps, a blank practice cue and choice row, and a two-way note
- A filled-in example for an invented student: 6 letters practiced, 32 of a possible 36 matches found and colored, with 5 of those 6 letters being one of the b/d, p/q or n/u pairs
- Phrase Bank - observable-language starters for a progress note, a family note and a next step
- Binder Cover and Tabs - a cover, spine label and 6 divider tabs
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF. Open it in a PDF reader, click a name line, a tracker cell or a home-page box, type, and save; every circle, line and colored letter on a child's page is always pencil work. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file.
It is a letter RECOGNITION and MATCHING resource, not a handwriting or letter-formation resource — nothing here asks a child to trace or form a letter with a pencil. Every letterform on every page is set type, never clip art or a licensed picture. This is not an assessment tool and makes no claim about reading level, grade placement, or any condition; it records what a child circled, found or matched, and the meeting decides what that means.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers and case managers with early literacy or letter-identification goals on the caseload, kindergarten and 1st grade teachers, the paraprofessionals who run small-group practice, and families sent the home page for extra practice.
