About this resource
A smaller, four-pair companion to Antonyms and Opposites Picture Cards: a picture for every word, and every word has its opposite right beside it — up and down, left and right, hard and soft, clean and dirty. Each card carries one big picture and one big word, and the two cards of a pair sit side by side, so an opposite is something a child can see. Each card gets its own mark, and the file never decides what counts as a correct answer; that stays your own scoring rule.
WHAT IS INCLUDED — 19 pages, 291 type-in fields
Picture Cards
- 8 picture cards in full color, each a big cut-apart piece laid edge to edge in a 4-across, 2-down grid so cutting is a few straight lines — 4 pairs, two pairs to a row
- The same 8 cards again as an ink-saver set in pure black outlines, for the photocopier
- An adult box under each card page listing what a child may call each picture (for example "plate" for both the clean and the dirty card), so your scoring rule is decided before the first probe
- Pictures are Unicode directional arrows (up/down, left/right) in Noto Emoji (color) and Fluent Emoji High Contrast (ink-saver); the hard/soft stone-and-cushion pictures and the clean/dirty plate are drawn vector art built for this file
Probe And Track
- 2 quick picture probe forms (A, B), 4 pictures each — two pairs on each form, so the two forms together are the whole 8-card deck with no overlap
- Full-Deck Probe — all 4 pairs on one sheet, a mark for each end of every pair, and a column for what was actually said
- Data Log — 17 rows: date, form, correct, out of, percent, notes
- Percent Graph — 14 probes across, 0–100 percent grid, a field for the team's own criterion
- Caseload Summary — 16 rows: student, pairs worked on, baseline, current, trend, decision
Share And Write
- Practice at Home — a family update built from two of the four pairs used in session, a weekly practice table, and lines for the opposites a family noticed outside of practice time
- Phrase Bank — 18 observable-language starters across 5 groups (accuracy, what was said, carryover, the log and graph, the caseload page)
- Filled Example — an invented student, eight probes, every percent re-counted from its own row
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, graph, caseload page, family page, and probe-form headers, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a norm-referenced or standardized test.
It carries no elicitation, cueing or modeling script. It does not decide what counts as a correct response, a criterion, or a typical rate for opposites — every one of those is your own call, written once and reused every session. Pictures replace the printed word list a child cannot yet read; they do not replace your scoring rule.
Who This Is For
Speech-language pathologists and special education teams working on antonyms, opposites and describing vocabulary with young or pre-reading students who want a shorter, four-pair starting deck, and the families who get the practice page sent home.
Pictures: Noto Emoji by Google, Apache License 2.0 (color); Fluent Emoji by Microsoft, MIT License (ink-saver black and white), for the two arrow pairs. The stone, pillow and plate pictures are drawn vector art, not a licensed icon.
