About this resource
Roll call on a clipboard, a sticky note for who was late, and a pile of work for the child who was away. This puts the whole attendance routine for a class on paper in one file: charts you type your class list into, a yearly roll-up, a make-up work log, and pages the children use themselves.
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 20 pages
- A monthly class attendance chart: 22 student rows by 23 school-day boxes, with Here and Away counts and a blank line for your school's rule
- A weekly attendance sheet: 22 student rows, Monday to Friday, Days Here and a notes column
- A weekly tally and roll-up: five count rows (Here, Away, Late, Left early, Children on the roll) by Monday to Friday, plus a week roll-up
- A tardy and early-leave log: 17 rows with date, student, time and what you were told
- A yearly attendance roll-up: 12 month rows (August to July) and a whole-year total
- A make-up work log: 15 rows with the day away, work saved, date given and date back
- A note home with blanks in your own words
- Name cards to cut: 16 cards in one block, three cuts down and three across
- Who Is Here Today?: a mat with an "I am here!" box and a "Not here today" box for children to check themselves in
- My School Days Stars: 25 stars to color, one for each day a child comes to school
- Our Class Bar Chart: five day columns of 22 boxes to color, one for each friend who is here
- Welcome Back!: a page a child fills in when they return, with a drawing box
- A phrase bank of 32 starters in 8 groups
- A filled example: six invented students and one week, a three-month yearly roll-up and a make-up row, every total re-added from its own row
- A binder cover, a spine label and 8 cut-apart tabs
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
Most attendance charts are one grid. This one also gives you the weekly count, the year at a glance, the make-up log, the note home and the pages children use to check in and count their own class.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the charts, logs and note, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file, and it does not add up the chart for you. You cannot drag the boxes around or restyle the pages.
It is the working paper for a classroom attendance routine. It does not say what counts as a day here, what is excused, or what happens after a number of days. That is your school's rule, and it gets a blank line. The charts count days; they do not score a child. No health information is filled in. The example students are invented and say so on the page. The only cutting is the 16 name cards and the 8 binder tabs.

Who This Is For
Kindergarten through 8th grade classroom teachers, special education teachers, paraprofessionals and substitutes who take attendance for a class, and the children who check in each morning.
