About this resource
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 21 pages
- 10 response cards, 2 inches square: confused, shrug, hand up, loudspeaker, nauseated, stopwatch, oops, thumbs down, mountain, feather — split five and five across two ring sheets so a buyer can print one sheet or both
- Every card twice: a full-color set for the ring and a black-and-white ink-saver set for a spare ring or a second adult
- A "what showing this card means" reference printed right on every card sheet, so the ring and the full answer never separate
- 10 blank ring cards with a type-in word line, for any answer the printed set does not cover
- A how-to page: building the ring (cut, punch, thread), asking the check question, picking what travels on it, what to do when a card surprises you, writing down what changes, one ring for several adults, sending it home and handing it off
- A Response Log (16 rows: date, time, setting, card shown, what prompted it, notes)
- A weekly roll-up (8 weeks) with a cards-shown-per-week graph
- A filled example — an invented student, one day across three settings and three weeks on the roll-up, every number re-counted from its own row
- A family page with six home response cards, what each one means, and a week of home tries to initial
- A hand-off page so a paraprofessional, co-teacher or substitute uses the same ring the same way
- A phrase bank: 24 lines in 6 groups (spoken check questions, written starters for the log, the roll-up and the note home)
- A storage and binder label sheet: 10 labels and a spine strip
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
Every other wearable ring in this collection carries an ADULT's offer or request, or an open feelings check-in with no question asked. This file is the other half: a student answering a teacher's check question — "are you with me?", "how is this going?" — by showing a card back instead of raising a hand and answering out loud in front of the class.
The Cards
- Response cards (10) — confused, shrug, hand up, loudspeaker, nauseated, stopwatch, oops, thumbs down, mountain, feather, new to this collection and checked one at a time against every other picture-card set already in it so no card repeats an existing picture-and-word pair
Cards are 2 inches square; a hole punched near the top edge, inside the dashed cut line, keeps the picture and the word clear of the ring.
The Ring Sheets
- Ring Sheet A and Ring Sheet B — five response cards each, cut apart and punched, color or ink-saver
No board at all and no wall chart at all: every card prints at the same 2-inch size, so a card from either sheet sits on the ring next to a card from the other without a size mismatch.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, the roll-up, the family page, the hand-off page and the blank cards, or print and use a pen. The card sheets print on cardstock or plain paper, cut along dashed lines, and punch near the top edge for a one-inch book ring (sold separately). It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
It is a way for an adult to ask a short check question and let a student answer in pictures, and to write down which answer was given. There is no right or wrong card to show, and this file does not say what a card shown means for instruction or behavior — that reading is your team's, not this file's. It is not a behavior plan, a clinical finding or a program of any kind, and it promises no outcome. It carries no prompt hierarchy, fading schedule or mastery rule. The goal line and the criterion field are blanks for your district's own wording and your team's own number.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers, paraprofessionals and co-teachers who want a quiet way for a student to answer a check question without being singled out in front of the class, plus the case managers who need that use to show up as data, and the families who get the home page sent home.
More In The Collection
This single pairs with Lanyard Cue Cards for Special Education and AAC Needs Ring Cards for Special Education (the same ring mechanic, carrying an adult's offers and requests instead) and Feelings Check-In Wearable Ring Cards (an open check-in with no specific question); more picture-card sets are being added to the collection regularly, all on the same cards-plus-data shape.
