About this resource
Does Wednesday come before or after Thursday? What is the short way to write "September"? This is a full calendar-skills kit for the youngest writers: fill in the missing day or month in order, write what comes right before and after, learn the short form, read a calendar, and cut and glue — days AND months in one file, at three levels marked by dots so nobody's paper looks like the "easy" one. Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction, and room to write.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (37 pages)
- 19 practice pages in 5 formats, at three levels, plus 1 reference chart page (20 student pages with a "My name" line)
- 6 pages of Finish the Order: TWO 7-day or 12-month strips per page (two separate puzzles, not one), each with 1, 2 or 4 (days) or 2, 4 or 6 (months) blanks — within each strip, across the three levels of each domain, every day and every month is a blank exactly once
- 6 pages of Before and After: one named day or month a row; write what comes right after (level 1), right before (level 2), or both (level 3, interior items only — no wrap-around claim)
- 2 pages of Match the Abbreviation: the full name printed, write the short form
- 2 pages of Read the Calendar: a made-up month grid (stated on the page as made up, not a real month), 6 questions a page
- 3 pages of Cut and Glue: 7 pieces (days) or 6 pieces (months, two sets), edge to edge, glued back in order
- 1 reference chart (page 6): every day and month, numbered, with its short form
- 3 answer keys, generated from the same code that drew the student pages — nothing hand-typed
- 1 tracker (19 rows), 1 class progress grid (15 rows)
- 1 team note page and 1 home page (six numbered primary lines for things practiced at home)
- 1 filled example (an invented student), 1 phrase bank (16 starters), 1 binder cover, and 6 divider tabs with a spine label to cut out
- Start Here, a how-to-read-a-page page, and a contents page that gives every page number
Three Levels, One Skill
The dots at the top of each page (1, 2 or 3) are the only level code: no color and no word. Finish the Order has the fewest blanks at 1 dot and the most at 3. Before and After asks only "what comes after" at 1 dot, only "what comes before" at 2 dots, and both at 3 dots.
Days Are Sunday Through Saturday, Months Are January Through December
Both full sequences are checked against themselves in the code before anything is built, so a transposed pair cannot ship quietly. Before and After never claims a wrap-around: Sunday has no day before it in this file and December has no month after it.
Built For The Child Holding The Page
Large rounded letters, big boxes with room to write, one instruction in a few words, and nothing on a student page written for an adult. Adult material (directions, answer keys, the tracker) is on separate pages.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, the tracker, the class grid, the team note and the home page are type-in fields in any PDF reader. The days and months a student writes are pencil work. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten and first grade classrooms, self-contained and resource rooms, and any teacher working with an older student who still needs the order of the week or the year. The home page sends the same job to a family; the team note hands off what changed since the last meeting.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
Calendar-skills practice with the record-keeping around it. It is not a probe, a goal bank or a score sheet, not a reading or math assessment, and not a claim about any student's age or rate of progress. It is not this store's Days of the Week or Months of the Year Sequence Task Box: those are independent-work task cards with no paper to write on; this is a worksheet packet.
