About this resource
Digraph and Blend Picture Worksheets already gets a student circling or writing sh, ch, wh, ck, ng,
th, bl, cr, dr, fr, sp and nd in isolated words. The next job is reading that same digraph or blend
inside a full sentence and answering real questions about it. This pack does that: twenty-four short,
decodable sentences, one built around each of digraphblend's twenty-four pictured words, each with
three checked questions — a Yes/No fact, a Yes/No false detail, and Circle the Two Letters You Hear.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (30 pages)
- 24 decodable sentences, checked in code against this store's own CVC word bank, its Fry-first-hundred
sight-word list, its digraph/blend support-word list, and this store's own audited 24-word digraph and
blend picture bank — no sentence uses a word harder than one the child already knows
- 3 comprehension and phonics questions per sentence, 72 in all: a Yes/No question that is true in the
sentence, a Yes/No question that names a detail the sentence does NOT contain, and a Circle the Two
Letters You Hear question offering the sentence's own digraph or blend against two other codes from
the same family (never the target) — every answer checked in code against the sentence's own words,
not assumed
- Comprehension Check, 6 pages — the detailed format: sentence, both Yes/No questions and the letters
check together, one item at a time
- Quick Check, 6 pages — the same three questions per sentence, condensed into boxed single-line rows
for a fast daily pass, with a score box for fact, false and letters questions answered correctly
- Weekly Review Mix, 1 page — eight questions pulled from across the whole bank, out of original
order, for a once-a-week cumulative check
- 2 Picture Key pages (digraphs, then blends — all twenty-four pictures, grouped by skill, each group
tagged with its own sentence numbers) and a 2-page Answer Key, both generated from the same sentence
data every question uses
- 1 sentence tracker (one student) and 1 class grid (whole caseload), type-in or print
- 1 family page (a picture reminder and questions to send home) and 1 reading helper card (a
five-minute one-on-one routine, sentences, questions and letter choices printed to read aloud, for a
paraprofessional or reading buddy)
- 1 filled example — an invented student's tracker, every number read off its own table
- 1 phrase bank — progress-note, family-note, next-step and talk-first starters, observations with
blanks
- 1 binder cover with a spine label and six divider tabs
- Start Here, a how-to-read-a-page key (with one sentence checked question by question), and a
Sentence Index that gives every page number
How Every Answer Is Checked, Not Assumed
Every fact question is verified to only ask about words the sentence itself contains. Every
false-detail question is verified to name at least one word genuinely absent from the sentence — so the
"No" answer is a fact about the text, not a guess. Every letters-heard question is built from this
store's own `distractors_for()` rule, which is verified never to return the sentence's own digraph or
blend code — the two wrong choices always come from the same family (a digraph mixed with another
digraph, a blend with another blend) and never name the target itself. None of the seventy-two answers
is printed on the page the child works from; they live on the two-page Answer Key only.
Not The Same Product As Either Sibling
This store also sells Digraph and Blend Picture Worksheets (Circle It and Write It on twelve isolated
skills, no sentences and no comprehension questions) and Decodable Sentences with Comprehension
Questions (the same three-question comprehension format, but CVC words only, no digraphs or blends).
This product sits between the two: full sentences, built around digraph and blend words, with real
questions to answer about them. It does not share a single sentence, page or picture layout with either
sibling, though it reuses their audited word banks by design.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, the tracker, the class grid, the family page and the Quick Check score boxes
are type-in fields in any PDF reader. The Comprehension Check, Quick Check and Weekly Review pages
themselves are always pencil-and-circle work. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides, Google
Docs or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Self-contained, resource and early-intervention rooms, and any K-1 classroom with students who have
moved past single CVC words into digraphs and blends and are ready to answer questions about a full
sentence. Pairs with this store's Digraph and Blend Picture Worksheets and Decodable Sentences with
Comprehension Questions.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
A print-and-practice comprehension and phonics pack with the record-keeping around it. It is not a
reading curriculum, not a phonics program, and not a claim about any student's age or rate of progress.
