About this resource
Division equal groups worksheets that start from a picture: a pile of dots, shared into rings or circled in groups. Then the numbers come in: write the division sentence, fill in the missing number, solve a short story, and cut and paste. Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture, and answer boxes made for a child's handwriting. Untimed: no clock, no score on the page.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (30 pages: 14 student pages, 16 for you)
- 57 items, every one computed in code: 37 different division facts, totals from 4 to 100, and every divisor is 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 (so every fact is in the 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times table). No page repeats a fact
- Look: one sharing example and one grouping example, worked out step by step (1 page)
- Share It: a pile of dots and empty rings to draw in (Set A), or room to draw your own groups (Set B) (7 items, 2 pages)
- Circle Groups: a pile of dots; circle the groups, write how many groups (Set A), then write the whole sentence (Set B) (7 items, 2 pages)
- Write It: rings of dots; count them and write the division sentence, sharing on Set A and groups of a size on Set B (7 items, 2 pages)
- Fill It In: the sentence with a missing number. Set A has the division sentence and the times sentence side by side, Set B moves the blank (12 items, 2 pages)
- Story Problems: invented stories about stickers, books, marbles and the like, each with a drawing space, a sentence and an answer line (6 items, 2 pages)
- Cut and Paste: six pieces a page in a 3 by 2 block, three straight cuts. Numbers under dots, division sentences under stories, division sentences under times sentences (18 pieces, 3 pages)
- 3 answer keys, a tracker, a class grid, a team note, a home page with blank rings for the family, a filled example (an invented student), a phrase and strategy bank (17 starters), a binder cover and 6 divider tabs with a spine label
- Start Here, a how-it-works page and a "What's next" back page
Built For The Child, Not The Office
Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture (a pencil, a circle or scissors), big drawn dots and rings (each dot is about a fifth of an inch across), rounded boxes at least half an inch tall, and plenty of room. Everything for you (directions, answer keys, scoring) is on separate teacher pages. No clip art: the only pictures are the dots and rings themselves.
Three Levels, Marked By Dots
One dot: starting (dots to draw or circle, the sentence printed). Two dots: building (count the rings and write the sentence, a story with room to draw). Three dots: ready for more (the blank moves, bigger totals, cut-and-paste sentences). The dots at the top right are the only level code, so children at one table are not comparing papers.
Every Item Is Computed
Every dot, ring, sentence, story, cut piece and every row of the three answer keys is read from the same facts that draw the page. There is no second, hand-typed key. Where an answer sits (which number is missing, the piece under a box) is placed by a seeded shuffle that rejects any order a child could guess, and no cut piece sits under its own box.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, every answer box, the tracker, class grid, team note and home page are type-in fields in any PDF reader; the dots, rings and cut pieces are always printed. Every page also prints clean in black and white. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Third grade teachers, special education and resource room teachers, interventionists, and families who want the same pictures at home, with the tracking and home pages already made.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
An untimed practice set for seeing, writing and solving division as equal groups, with the record-keeping around it. It is not a timed fluency probe or a goal page, not a full division curriculum, and not a claim about any student's grade level or rate of progress. Every divisor is 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10; there are no remainders, no long division and no multi-digit dividing.
