About this resource

One written-expression IEP goal, three error types, one paragraph — and a score that is always three numbers, never one. The student reads a short paragraph with ten mistakes built in (three capitalization, three punctuation, four spelling), circles each one, and writes the fix. Six equivalent forms, so a score on one form means the same as a score on another.

Every form is scored by error type throughout the file — the goal page, the scoring keys, the data log and graph, the caseload summary and the phrase bank all keep capitalization, punctuation and spelling as three separate counts, because the three rarely improve at the same pace and a single blended total hides which one still needs the reteach.

WHAT IS INCLUDED — 23 pages, 6 editing-paragraph forms, 60 embedded mistakes across the six forms (18 capitalization, 18 punctuation, 24 spelling, none repeated), 318 type-in fields, a binder cover and divider tabs

What This Is, And What It Is Not

It is a fillable PDF. The goal page, the data log and graph, the caseload summary and the binder organizer are type-in fields: open the file in a PDF reader, click a line or cell, type, and Save As once per student. The six editing-paragraph pages and the Scoring Keys page are meant to be printed; the student circles mistakes and writes fixes in pencil. It works offline with no account or subscription. It does not calculate percents or plot the graph for you.

It is not a norm-referenced instrument and not a clinical finding. No page sets an eligibility criterion, states a typical age, or names a condition. Every sample goal is invented in brackets; your team sets the real criteria from the baseline and the student's IEP. The example student (Mateo, fourth grade) is invented and says so on the page.

Who This Is For

Upper-elementary special education teachers and case managers writing written-expression IEP goals that name more than one mechanics skill, general education and co-taught classroom teachers who want the same six forms as a quick weekly warm-up, and the paraprofessionals who give the weekly probe.

If You Want One Skill At A Time

This file trades a single blended score for three separate ones on one paragraph. For a student who needs more practice on just capitalization and punctuation without spelling, or more dictated-word spelling practice outside a paragraph, this store also sells Capitalization and Punctuation Editing Progress Monitoring Probes (sentence-level, two error types) and Sight Word Spelling: Fry Third Hundred Progress Monitoring Probes (dictated spelling only).
