About this resource
The call comes in before seven, and the sub folder holds a schedule and nothing to actually teach. This pack is a whole 1st Grade day a substitute can hand out cold: a made-up story with questions at three levels, adding and subtracting within 20 at three levels, a words page and a writing page, a brain break, a page for children who finish early, answer keys for the adult, and a report back to you at the end. Nothing is dated or seasonal, so it is ready any week of the year. Fillable PDF: type the set-up and report pages, print the student pages.

What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF. Open it in a PDF reader, click a line, a box or a cell, type, press Tab to move on, and print the student pages for pencil work. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable slide deck or a word processor file, and it does not grade the answer keys for you.
It is a day of general-education 1st Grade work, not a curriculum and not a set of lesson plans for the whole year. It does not decide anything your school decides: the step for a child who will not start, who a substitute may see information about, and who to call are blank lines for the classroom teacher to fill in. No student information is pre-filled. The story, the substitute, the teacher and every child on the example page are invented, and the pages say so.
Who This Is For
1st Grade classroom teachers who want a day ready in the sub folder, the substitutes who walk in cold, and the paraprofessionals and team teachers asked to cover a room. Works for a single classroom; additional licenses are available for teammates.
