About this resource
Sixteen fall pictures a child can name, cut apart as big cards and ready to hold up: maple leaf, fallen leaves, leaves in wind, squirrel, deer, hedgehog, goose, tractor, peanut, apple, corn, sunflower, scarf, boot, rain cloud and football. Each card is one picture and one word, in full color or in ink-saver black and white. Three student pages let the child glue, write and use the words, and the probe forms, log, graph and caseload page turn the naming into data. The file never decides what counts as a correct answer; that stays your own scoring rule. Fall trees and leaves, backyard and farm animals, wind and rain, and fall foods only, with no holiday content.
WHAT IS INCLUDED -- 22 pages, 381 type-in fields
The Picture Cards
- 16 fall word cards in full color, each a big cut-apart piece laid edge to edge in a 4-across, 4-down grid so cutting is a few straight lines
- The same 16 cards again as an ink-saver set in pure black outlines, for the photocopier
- A note under the cards names the 6 pictures a child may name another way (fallen leaves, leaves in wind, squirrel, goose, boot, rain cloud) so you can decide once how to mark them
Student Pages
- 3 pages with a My name line and one short instruction: glue each card on its faint picture (16 slots), write the word for each picture beside a word bank (16 primary writing rows), and pick 3 pictures to write a sentence about, with a box to draw
- Each page carries a small shape for its level (starting, building, ready for more), and nothing on it is written for an adult
Probe And Track
- 3 quick probe forms (A, B, C), 8 pictures each; Forms A and B split the 16 pictures with no overlap, and Form C re-mixes 8 of them in a new order
- Full-Deck Probe -- all 16 pictures in card order, three marks each (+, -, close), and a column for what the child said, word for word
- Data Log -- 17 rows: date, form, correct, out of, percent, notes
- Percent Graph -- 14 probes across, 0-100 percent grid, a field for the team's own criterion
- Caseload Summary -- 16 rows: student, last form given, baseline, current, trend, decision
Share And Write
- Fall Words at Home -- a family update built from six of the same pictures used in session, a weekly practice table, and lines for the fall words a family heard outside of practice time
- Phrase Bank -- 19 observable-language starters across 5 groups (accuracy, what was said, the student pages, carryover, the log, graph and caseload)
- Filled Example -- an invented student, eight sessions, every percent re-counted from its own row
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, graph, caseload page, family page, and probe-form headers, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a norm-referenced or standardized test. It covers naming sixteen fall pictures only.
It carries no elicitation, cueing or modeling script. It does not decide what counts as a correct name, a criterion, or a typical rate for naming fall words -- every one of those is your own call, written once and reused every session. Pictures replace the printed word list a child cannot yet read; they do not replace your scoring rule.
Who This Is For
Speech-language pathologists, special education teachers and paraprofessionals with young or pre-reading students who are working on naming and using fall vocabulary, and the families who get the practice page sent home.
If You Want More
Winter Vocabulary Picture Cards asks the same kind of naming for the next season, Category Naming and Classification Picture Cards asks the same kind of naming across five topics, and Action Verb Naming Picture Cards asks what the person is doing. All use the same picture style, so a child who knows one set knows how the next works.
