About this resource
February mornings go faster when a child can sit down and start. These February morning work worksheets for kindergarten, first and second grade give you four weeks of daily pages, twenty in all. Every page has a math strip on top and a reading strip below it, big type, a "My name" line and room to write. The same five days repeat every week, so children learn the routine once, and each week builds on the one before it.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (36 pages)
- 20 daily pages: 4 weeks of 5 days, each page with 1 math strip and 1 reading strip
- Math, the same order every week: Day 1 count the dots and write the number (24 count boxes), Day 2 ten frames drawn with boxes (16 frames), Day 3 add and subtract within 10 (24 problems), Day 4 compare (24 comparisons), Day 5 a tally graph (14 tally rows, plus "which has the most" and "how many in all")
- Reading, the same order every week: Day 1 CVC words with a clue (20 words, no word twice), Day 2 sight word sentences (16 sentences, 16 sight words), Day 3 sound sort (32 words), Day 4 unscramble a 4-word sentence (12 sentences), Day 5 write a sentence from a prompt (4 prompts, with a starter printed)
- 4 weekly themes: Kind Hearts, Groundhog Shadows, Winter Days, Friends and Leaders
- A how-to-use page, week by week, with the pages for every day
- 4 answer-key pages, one for each week
- 1 weekly tracker (20 rows), 1 class progress grid (15 students), 1 filled example (an invented student)
- 1 family note with three ways to help at home, 1 phrase bank of 15 observable-language starters
- 1 binder cover with a spine strip, 4 weekly divider tabs (Week 1 to Week 4, each naming its theme and pages; fold or tape, no scissors needed), Start Here and terms of use
How Each Week Builds
Week 1 counts to 9, adds within 5, uses short a and i, and prints the capital letter and period on the scramble. Week 2 counts to 14, adds within 10 and takes away within 5, adds short o and u. Week 3 counts to 18, writes less than, greater than and equal, adds short e plus review, and drops the printed capital and period. Week 4 counts to 20, makes 10, finds the missing number, adds then compares, and writes whole CVC words.
Built For The Child Holding The Page
A big "My name" line, one short direction with a pencil next to it, and answer boxes and lines a child can actually write in. Nothing on a student page is written for an adult and nothing is scored. The ten frames, counting dots and tally marks are drawn on the page, so there is no clip art to color and nothing to cut or glue.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, every answer box and ruled line, the tracker, the class grid and the family note are type-in fields in any PDF reader, so you can type a name or a different number before you print. Every page prints clean in black and white. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Teachers of kindergarten to second grade: morning work tubs, early finishers, small groups, sub plans, homeschool and tutors. Use one page a day, or one strip as a warm-up and the other as a finisher.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
Daily math and reading practice with the record-keeping around it. The pages are written for K-2 and do not claim to match any one set of standards. There is no scoring on the student pages, no rubric, and no clinical or screening use. The tracker and the key are for you.
