About this resource
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 32 pages
- One combined board: FIRST leads into a five-slot TOKENS row, which leads into THEN/REWARD — not a First-Then board and a token board sold side by side, one board that carries the whole routine
- 3 board layouts: a full First-Then Token board, two desk-size boards on one sheet, and a board with a three-card REWARD choice row instead of one set reward
- 60 FIRST-activity picture cards, 2 inches square: 12 each for school work time, self-care and meals, transitions and directions, play and rewards, and home and anywhere
- 12 REWARD picture cards, 2 inches square: balloon, book, bubbles, cookie, candy, teddy bear, headphones, game controller, trophy, ball, puzzle, gift
- Every card twice: a full-color set for a laminated board and a black-and-white ink-saver set for the photocopier
- 12 blank cards with a type-in word line, for any FIRST activity or reward the printed set does not cover
- A how-to page: before the first day, the four moves every time, choosing FIRST and the reward, what to do if the row is not filled by day's end, writing down what changes, sending it home
- A First-Then Token log (16 rows: date, time, FIRST card, token slot filled, on own Y/N, help given in your own words, initials)
- A weekly roll-up (8 weeks) with a percent-of-days-filled graph
- A filled example — an invented student, one day on the log and three weeks on the roll-up, every percent re-counted from its own row
- A family page with a kitchen-size board and six home cards (three FIRST activities, three rewards) on one sheet
- A hand-off page so a paraprofessional or another classroom runs the same board the same way
- A phrase bank: 22 lines in 6 groups (spoken lines for the board, written starters for the log, the roll-up and the note home)
- A storage and binder label sheet: 12 labels and a spine strip
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
Most stores sell a First-Then board and a token board as two separate files. This one is the combined system the top sellers on "visual schedule" and "first then board" actually use: FIRST tells the student what happens now, the TOKENS row tracks steps completed one star at a time, and THEN/REWARD is what they are working toward — on one board, with the log, roll-up and phrase bank behind it so the routine turns into a line on a page a case manager can bring to a meeting.
The Cards
- FIRST activities — School: work time (12): reading, writing, math, letters, computer, science, art, coloring, cutting, music, puzzle, calendar. Self-care and meals (12): wash hands, bathroom, brush teeth, get dressed, shoes, coat, bath, breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner, drink. Transitions and directions (12): line up, group, sit, clean up, pack up, bus, wait, timer, stop, quiet, listen, raise hand. Play and rewards (12): recess, ball, bike, video game, teddy bear, bubbles, dinosaur, headphones, swim, run, prize, cookie. Home and anywhere (12): home, school, homework, tv, bedtime, trash, store, car, dog, outside, break, all done.
- REWARD cards (12): balloon, book, bubbles, cookie, candy, teddy bear, headphones, game controller, trophy, ball, puzzle, gift.
Six words (bubbles, cookie, teddy bear, headphones, ball, puzzle) are an honest picture on both decks — an everyday activity card on the FIRST side, a set-in-advance reward on the REWARD side — kept on two separate pages for two separate jobs rather than edited out of either bank. Every picture was chosen to be named in one word by a young child, in color AND in the black-and-white set. Cards are 2 inches square; the board panels and the reward slot are sized so a card sits inside with room for a velcro dot.
The Token Row
The five star slots are the reward-progress token itself, filled one at a time (color one in, or place a physical star sticker) — not a symbol standing for an abstract idea. No checkbox, target, or other abstract interface symbol appears anywhere in this file.
The Boards
- First-Then Token Board — a name line, a FIRST panel, a five-star TOKENS row, and a THEN/REWARD panel with a slot for the earned reward card.
- Two desk-size First-Then Token boards — two smaller boards on one sheet, cut apart, for a folder or a second student.
- Board with a reward choice — the same FIRST and TOKENS row, over a three-card REWARD row the student picks from once all five slots are filled.
The boards carry no pictures, so they print the same in color or black and white.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the boards' name lines, the log, the roll-up, the family page, the hand-off page and the blank cards, or print and use a pen. The card pages print on cardstock or plain paper and cut along dashed lines. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
It is a way to show a student what happens now, track steps completed with a physical token, and show what they are working toward. It is not a behavior plan, a point system with rules of its own, or a program of any kind, and it promises no outcome. It carries no prompt hierarchy, fading schedule or mastery rule; how it is used with a student, and for how long, is what your team's plan says. The goal line and the criterion field are blanks for your district's own wording and your team's own number.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers and paraprofessionals who want First-Then sequencing and a token economy on one board instead of running two systems, case managers who need that use to show up as data, and the families who get the home page sent home. If you already own First Then Board and Activity Picture Cards or Token Board 5-Slot, this is the combined board those two systems point toward.
More In The Collection
This is a set in the Visual Supports Collection, alongside First Then Board and Activity Picture Cards and Token Board 5-Slot for Special Education; more picture-card sets are being added to the collection regularly, all on the same cards-plus-data shape.
