About this resource
Happy Mail you can type into, print and send. Cut, tick or write, and send good news home to a family, or give a kind note to a friend. 24 different note designs in color and in ink-saver black and white, plus blank notes, student pages and a log so every student gets one.
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 26 pages
- 8 tick-list notes to send home to families, 2 across and 4 down: each has its own list of three kind reasons to tick, an "Other" line, a "Dear family of" line and a "From" line
- 8 "proud of you" notes with a sentence to finish and two lines for your own words
- 8 student-to-student notes a child can tick and give to a friend
- That is 24 different note designs. Each is drawn with its own picture (star, heart, envelope, sun, flower, rainbow, smiley face, balloon)
- All 24 again in black-and-white ink-saver, for the copier
- 8 blank notes with a "Dear" line, two writing lines and a "From" line
- 3 student pages with room to write: Write Happy Mail to a Friend, I Got Happy Mail (draw it and circle a word) and My Kind Things This Week (5 stars to color)
- A how-to page for you
- A Happy Mail Log (20 rows: date, student, note code, how it went home, initials)
- A class check-off (24 rows, 4 weeks) so you can see who has not had a note yet
- A filled example: an invented class of 6 students over 4 weeks, with every total checked against its own table
- A family page with 6 small fridge cards to cut apart and lines for a reply
- A hand-off page so a substitute, a paraprofessional or a specials teacher sends the same kind of note
- A phrase bank: 22 lines in 6 groups (opening lines, what I saw, thank-you lines, endings, student starters, what to say when you hand it over)
- A storage and binder label sheet: 12 labels and a spine strip
- Start Here, a contents page that maps every page, and a "what's next" back page
The Notes
Every note says Happy Mail, carries its own picture and a small code (F for a tick-list note home, P for proud of you, S for student-to-student) so you can write the code on the log. Print on plain paper or cardstock; the notes sit edge to edge, so each cut is one straight line. Type a name into a note before you print, or write it by hand.
The Student Pages
Every student page has a "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture, big rounded words, and room to write or draw. The students and the class in the example are invented.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the name lines, the blank notes, the log, the check-off, the family page and the hand-off page, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
Who This Is For
Teachers, special education teachers, counselors and paraprofessionals who want a quick way to send good news home, for PreK to grade 5, and the students who write a kind note to a friend.
