About this resource
The homework goes home on Monday and the folder comes back with half of it missing. This is the whole folder in one file: a cover that is yours, labels for the pockets, a place to write the week down, and pages for the children, the family and the class.
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 22 pages
- A Start Here page, a contents page and a filled-in example week
- 4 cover designs: a backpack, stars, a six-subject cover, and a page where the child draws the cover. Type the name, teacher, grade and year, print, and glue it to a pocket folder
- 20 pocket labels to cut: 8 labels that read Take Home and Bring Back (4 of each), and 12 more (8 named labels such as To Do, Done and Sign and Return, plus 4 with a line to type your own)
- The homework log in 3 forms: a weekly log by subject and day (8 subject rows), a homework list (13 assignment lines with a due date, done and grown-up initials), and a class folder check for 17 students with a roll-up for the whole class
- 3 pages for children, each with a My name line and big pictures: My Homework Checklist (6 boxes to check), My Homework Week (a circle to color for each of 5 days) and Pack My Folder (5 things to take home and 5 to bring back)
- Family pages: a note home you finish in your own words, 8 reply slips to cut so a family can write back, and a page where the family writes down their homework spot and plan
- A phrase bank of 30 starters in 6 groups, and a "what's next" back page
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the pages, or print them and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. The pages are a PDF, so you cannot drag the boxes around or restyle them. It is not a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file, and it does not add up the log for you.
It is working paper. It does not say how much homework to give, how late work is handled or what happens when it is missing. Those are your classroom's and your school's own rules, and the pages leave a blank line to write them on. The log counts what came back; it never scores a child. Nothing is pre-filled about any student. Mia, her grown-up and the class in the example are invented and say so on the page.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten through 8th grade classroom teachers who send a folder home and want it to look finished, special education and resource teachers who keep one folder per student, and families who want a plain place to keep the week.
