About this resource
Icebreaker games for the first week of school and for advisory, made for grades 6-8. 48 wholesome cards in six sets: Two Truths and a Lie, This or That, Partner Interviews, Team Challenges with no props, Get to Know You and Finish the Sentence. Students read, think, share, and the class counts who joined in. Worksheets with room to write, a team page, a class graph, a class tally and a log turn a few minutes a day into something you can use all year.
The Cards
Two truths and a lie about foods you love, a sweatshirt or a T-shirt, "What hobby could you talk about for ten minutes?", "Line up by birthday month without talking", "A song that gets me moving is...". Every card is a friendly, everyday one. There are no health, family-situation, political or religious prompts, and every character is invented. A student can pass or pick another card.
The Worksheets
Every student page has a "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture, big rounded words, and room to circle, color or write. 18 worksheet items in all (4 Two Truths and a Lie rounds, 8 This or That rows, 6 partner questions).
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the name lines, the writing lines, the log, the roll-up, the family page, the hand-off page and the blank cards, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
Who This Is For
Middle school classroom teachers, advisory and homeroom teachers, special education teachers, counselors and paraprofessionals who want a calm, friendly start to the year in grades 6-8, and the families who get the home page.
