About this resource
A complete job-application kit for high school life skills and transition classes. Students learn the words, gather their own information on one sheet, then fill in three different practice applications from three invented employers, find the mistakes on a flawed form, sort what to do and not do, build a mini resume, and write out interview answers with real room to write. Every page has one short instruction. A filled example, an answer key, a tracker, a class grid, a progress note, a family page and a teacher page are included, so nothing has to be made from scratch.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (29 pages)
- 15 student pages in 15 page types
- 12 job-application words (applicant, employer, position, application, resume, reference, availability, experience, qualifications, supervisor, interview, signature) with a match page (8 words) and 6 fill-in sentences from a word box of 8
- 1 information sheet to fill in once and copy from
- 3 practice applications, 6 pages, from three invented employers, each laid out differently (a standard form with a day-by-day availability table, a "join our team" form with morning, afternoon and evening times, and an online-style form with steps and a skills table)
- 1 find-the-mistakes page: a flawed invented form with 6 mistakes to find and fix
- 1 cut-and-paste sort: 8 pieces, Do or Don't, edge to edge
- 1 mini resume page
- 2 interview pages, 6 questions, each with 6 writing lines and a sentence starter, plus a prompt for two questions to ask the interviewer
- 1 checklist page: 8 steps before handing in an application, 8 for interview day, and a 4-point partner card for a mock interview
- 28 scored items on 3 pages, with 1 answer key and look-fors for the open pages
- 1 tracker and 1 class grid, 1 progress note and 1 family page
- 1 filled example (an invented applicant, Taylor M.), 1 teacher page, 1 phrase bank (15 starters in 5 groups, including a script for asking a reference)

- Start Here page
Built For The Student Holding The Page
Body text at 11 point or larger, a clear instruction on each page, form boxes you can type in or write in, and writing lines sized for real handwriting. No cartoon characters. Nothing on a student page is written for an adult; keys, tracker and notes are on separate teacher pages. The file prints clean in black and white.
Type In, Or Print
Every name line, form box, table cell and writing line is a type-in field in any PDF reader: click one, type, then save. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file. The cut-and-paste sort is for pencil and scissors.
Who This Is For
High school life skills, transition and resource room teachers, work-based learning coordinators and special education teachers who need a complete practice set for filling in job applications. Use it as a unit over a week, as stations, or one page at a time. Students can type or use made-up details if you prefer.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
Practice forms and the record-keeping around them. The employers, the example applicant and every phone number and email are invented. It is not a legal, hiring or work-permit guide; there are no age, wage or eligibility rules in it. Your program's own rules get blank lines on the teacher page.
