About this resource

A full-alphabet first look at letter recognition in one sitting: every uppercase letter, every lowercase letter, and whether a student can match them, before deciding what needs a closer, multi-session check. This store's Phonics Screener K-2 already covers a five-skill *sample* across letter sounds, blending, beginning/ending sounds, rhyming and digraphs (ten items each) — this file is different and complementary: it is not a multi-skill sample, it is full A-to-Z coverage of naming and matching, with letter sound production kept to one small optional layer so the two files do not overlap.

It is a fillable PDF. Open it in a PDF reader, click a line, a box or a cell, type, press Tab to move on, and Save As per student or per cycle. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT a Google Sheets file, a Google Doc, or an Excel workbook.

It is not a standardized or norm-referenced test, and not a clinical finding of any kind. No page states what a count means, sets an age expectation, or names a condition — every quick-check row records only what was named, pointed to, or matched, and the team's own criteria for what a count means stay a blank line on the page. No page in this file is handed to a student to work on alone; every form is completed by the adult doing the check.

Reading specialists, interventionists, and PreK-2 classroom teachers who need full-alphabet coverage of uppercase, lowercase and matching before deciding what to screen or track in depth.
