About this resource
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 20 pages, 188 type-in fields
- A type-in calendar grid: month and year fields, 42 blank date cells (six rows of seven), and a numbered week strip underneath with a circle for today
- A "What day is it?" board: six labeled slots (Yesterday was, Today is, Tomorrow will be, This month is, The season is, Today I am at) and a six-picture morning-things grid to match or circle — with its own cut-apart cards on the same sheet for everything but morning things: 7 day cards, 12 month cards, 4 season cards, 2 place cards
- A weather board: slots for today and yesterday, six weather pictures to match or circle (sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy, stormy, rainbow), a Monday-to-Friday strip, and two sets of six weather cards
- Both picture boards twice: a full-color set for a laminated binder and a black-and-white ink-saver set for the photocopier
- 52 cut-apart cards in all (22 picture cards, 30 word cards), counting the color set and the home page once
- A weekly tracker: 12 morning jobs down, Monday to Friday across, one letter per cell (no help / pointed once / said the words / not run), a "no help" count per row and a week total
- A binder organizer: a front cover, a spine strip and nine divider tabs (three of them blank)
- A home version: the same three questions on one sheet for the kitchen table, with 15 cards and a seven-day "we did it" row
- A family update with a team hand-off block for the next adult who runs the binder
- A phrase bank: 26 lines in 6 groups (spoken lines for running the boards, written starters for the note afterward)
- A filled example — an invented student, one week, every count re-counted from its own row
- An answer key listing every board, the cards it takes and what correct looks like, plus the full word list
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
A morning work binder that comes with its own data. Most calendar and weather sets stop at the boards; this one adds the tracker, the family update and the phrase bank behind them, so the morning routine turns into a week of counts a case manager can bring to a meeting.
Evergreen
No month, year or date is printed anywhere in the file. The calendar's month and year are type-in fields, the date cells are blank, and "This month is" takes one of twelve month cards, so the binder never expires and never needs a seasonal re-download.
The Boards
- Calendar (page 6) — type the month, year and dates and print, or laminate it blank and write with a dry-erase marker. The week strip under it is numbered 1 to 7 with a circle for today.
- Days (page 7 in color, page 8 in ink-saver) — the board stays whole above a cut line; the card band below cuts apart. Six velcro slots, and a morning-things picture grid (clock, bed, toothbrush, backpack, bus, shoe) the child matches or circles with a marker (like the weather grid); the day, month, season and place words below the line are the ones that cut apart into cards.
- Weather (page 10 in color, page 11 in ink-saver) — look out the window, put up today's card. The six-picture grid works two ways: match the identical card onto it, or circle the answer with a marker. The Monday-to-Friday strip takes one card a day from the second set.
The Words
- Day cards (7): Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
- Month cards (12): January through December
- Season cards (4): spring, summer, fall, winter
- Place cards (2): school, house
- Morning things (6): clock, bed, toothbrush, backpack, bus, shoe
- Weather (6, two sets): sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy, stormy, rainbow
Every picture was chosen to be named in one word by a young child, in color AND in the black-and-white set; a word that failed in either set was left out of both.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the calendar, the tracker, the organizer, the home page and the family update, or print and use a pen. The board pages print on cardstock or plain paper; the card band cuts off the bottom and the board stays whole. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a test of anything.
It carries no prompt hierarchy, fading schedule or mastery rule, and it does not decide what a count means for a student or when a board is done with. The tracker counts which boards were done and what help was given, and nothing else.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers and paraprofessionals running a morning meeting or independent morning work with early, pre-reading or low-verbal students, case managers who need that routine to show up as data, and the families who get the home page.
More In The Collection
This is the first binder in the Morning Work & Adapted Books Collection; matching binders (functional vocabulary, community signs, classroom objects) are being added to the collection regularly, all on the same boards-plus-tracker shape.
