About this resource
Everything inside: 23 pages · four TIMED student practice pages (20 multi-digit problems each — five two-digit additions that carry, five two-digit subtractions that borrow, five three-digit additions that carry, five three-digit subtractions that borrow, all shuffled into one grid) · a shared scoring-keys page for all four forms · a data log and graph scored as problems correct per minute · a quick-response observation checklist built for this skill · a caseload summary · a quick reference card for a second adult · a family update · a 20-starter phrase bank · a binder cover and 4 cut-out divider tabs · a worked, invented example. 392 type-in fields.
This store already sells four UNTIMED, accuracy-only multi-digit regrouping probes — Two-Digit Addition With Regrouping, Two-Digit Subtraction With Regrouping, and the combined "mixed" tiers at within-100 and 3-digit — and two TIMED single-digit bare-fact fluency probes. None of the six answers the question a computation fluency goal actually asks: not just whether the carry or the borrow comes out right, but how many multi-digit regrouping problems a student can get through, correctly, in a minute. This file is that rate measure: four equivalent forms of twenty problems each, two-digit and three-digit, addition and subtraction, all interleaved into ONE timed grid instead of split by digit length or operation, so a student who regroups fine in one familiar shape still has to prove it holds up when the shape changes mid-page. Answered in writing under a time limit your team sets, scored as speed and accuracy together — problems correct per minute (PCPM) — with a second page that watches WHERE the regrouping step breaks down (automatic, a pause right at the carry or borrow, a skipped regroup that produces the classic wrong answer, or a guess) and gives the team a place to write its own call on automaticity, never a cutoff this file imposes.
WHAT IS INCLUDED — 23 pages, 392 type-in fields
Set Up
- Binder Cover and Divider Tabs — a spine/cover card, 4 cut-out tabs, and a 9-row "where to find things" index
- How This Pack Works — six numbered steps from baseline to weekly routine to reteach decision
- Multi-Digit Addition & Subtraction Fluency — Goal and Directions — a sample goal with a six-part fill-in frame, a 3-probe baseline table, a 3-row benchmark table, and scoring directions including the PCPM (problems correct per minute) formula
Four Timed Student Pages, Plus A Shared Key
- Forms A-D — 20 problems each (5 two-digit addition that carries, 5 two-digit subtraction that borrows, 5 three-digit addition that carries, 5 three-digit subtraction that borrows with a real share crossing a zero), ALL TWENTY SHUFFLED TOGETHER so operation and digit length never fall into their own blocks, no exact problem repeated within a form, each page clean for the student: a "My name" line, one short instruction with a drawn pencil icon, and a right-aligned column for every problem (top number, a ruled line under + or − and the second number, an answer box) — the operation symbol on the line is the only thing that marks which problem a cell is
- Scoring Keys — the correct answer for every item on all four forms (sum for an addition item, difference for a subtraction item), laid out in the same reading order as the student page, plus a quick score strip and the scoring formula — kept off the student page entirely
Track, Report And Share
- Multi-Digit Fluency — Data Log and Graph — a 12-row log (date, form, time, reached, correct, errors, PCPM, notes) and a graph scaled 0-20 PCPM
- Quick-Response Observation Checklist — an 8-row tally log (automatic / pauses at the regroup / skips the regroup / guess-blank) plus a write-in automaticity note — the team's own call, never a fixed cutoff
- Caseload Summary — 12 students by 8 probes, one decision column
- Quick Reference for a Second Adult — six numbered steps, a "what not to do" list, and a mini scoring strip to hand back, for whoever gives the probe when it is not the case manager
- Family Update — a ready-to-send communication page: what was practiced, one win, a home-practice idea, this week's rate in plain words, and a 7-day practiced table
- Progress Note Phrase Bank — 20 observable-language starters across 5 groups (speed/accuracy, pattern across probes, next steps, quarterly report sentence, caseload-wide)
- A Filled-In Data Log — a worked, invented example (Theo, third grade) with 12 weekly timed probes, every PCPM and accuracy number checked against its own row
Plus a Start Here quick-start, a 3-section contents page with real page thumbnails, 3 section dividers, and a "what's next" back page.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF. Open it in a PDF reader, click a field, type, Save As once per student. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT a Google Sheets file, a Google Doc, or an Excel workbook, and it is not a norm-referenced test — it carries no fixed fluency benchmark score anywhere in the file. The four student practice pages and the scoring-keys page print; the goal page, log, checklist, caseload page, second-adult reference and organizer are type-in.
It is not the store's existing Two-Digit Addition/Subtraction With Regrouping probes or its combined mixed-regrouping tiers (within 100, and the 3-digit tier), which score accuracy only, with no clock — this file is the timed rate companion to all four, drawing its problem pool from the identical column-arithmetic reasoning (ones column always carries or borrows; three-digit subtraction includes a real share that borrows across a zero) but scoring speed and accuracy together instead. It is also not the store's single-digit bare-fact Facts Fluency Timed probes (addition, subtraction, mixed) — those time recall of a fact in isolation; this one times a multi-step column computation, which fails in a different place (at the regrouping step, not at fact recall).
It is not a curriculum, and it is not a rule about how many problems per minute counts as "fluent." What fluent enough means for a given student is the team's own judgment, written in from the baseline and the IEP; this file never sets that number on its own — the quick-response checklist page is a blank the team fills in, by design. No age, eligibility or IDEA-timeline claim anywhere; no health data is pre-filled, and the example student (Theo) is invented and named as such on page 22. Addition and subtraction only, two- and three-digit — this first build does not cover four-digit problems, decimals, or multiplication/division.
Who This Is For
Math interventionists, special education teachers and case managers who need a timed, repeatable way to check whether multi-digit regrouping holds up under a clock and across digit lengths — not just whether the carry or borrow is right when there is no time pressure — plus a second, condensed page for whoever else gives the probe.
If You Want More
Addition and Subtraction Within 100 Mixed Regrouping Probes | IEP Goal and 3-Digit Addition and Subtraction Mixed Regrouping Probes | IEP Goal are the untimed, accuracy-only companions this file's problem pool is adapted from. Mixed Addition & Subtraction Facts Fluency Probes | Timed Math IEP Data Sheets is the same timed, rate-scored, goal-log-graph shape for single-digit bare facts rather than multi-digit column problems.
