About this resource
Count, jump and place numbers on a number line that runs all the way to 100. Jump forward and back by tens, jump by ones on a closer line, say what number comes next, put a dot where a number goes, and fill in the missing numbers. Every page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction, and answer boxes made for a child's handwriting. Untimed: no clock, no score on the page.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (27 pages: 12 student pages, 15 for you)
- The whole 0 to 100 line with a numeral at every ten, and a closer line of ten numbers for jumps of 1 (every jump is one arc, drawn to scale)
- 55 number-line problems, every one different, all computed in code
- Ways to Use a Number Line: a jump of 10, a jump back, a jump of 1, plus a Your turn strip (1 page)
- Jump by Tens: read the printed jumps, draw your own, or find the missing number (14 items, 3 pages)
- Jump by Ones: read the printed jumps or draw them on a closer line (9 items, 2 pages)
- What Comes Next: write the next number, with the jump shown and then without it (12 items, 2 pages)
- Place the Number: read a dot on the line, or draw a dot where a number goes (10 items, 2 pages)
- Missing Numbers: count up by 1 or by 10 along a row and write the empty ones (10 items, 2 pages)
- 2 answer keys, 1 tracker, 1 class grid, 1 team note, 1 home page with a printed number line and blank equations for the family to fill in, 1 filled example (an invented student), a phrase and strategy bank (16 starters), a binder cover and 6 divider tabs with a spine label
- Start Here, a how-it-works page and a "What's next" back page
Built For The Child, Not The Office
Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture (a pencil), rounded boxes at least half an inch tall, and plenty of room. Everything for you (directions, answer keys, scoring) is on separate teacher pages.
Three Levels, Marked By Dots
One dot: starting (the jumps are printed and the child reads them). Two dots: building (the child draws the jumps or finds the pattern). Three dots: ready for more. The dots are the only level code, so children at one table are not comparing papers.
Every Number Is Computed
Every start number, jump, missing number and answer is read from the same item that draws the page. There is no second, hand-typed key. A seeded shuffle keeps the answers from ever reading as a pattern (no run of ascending, descending, or three in a row).
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, every answer box, the tracker, class grid, team note and home page are type-in fields in any PDF reader; the number lines are always printed. Every page also prints clean in black and white. This is a fillable PDF, not a slideshow or a word-processor file.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten through 2nd grade teachers, special education and resource room teachers, interventionists, and anyone teaching a child to move along a number line to 100, with the tracking and family pages already made.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
An untimed number-line practice set with the record-keeping around it. It is not a timed fluency probe or a goal page, not a full math curriculum, and not a claim about any student's age, grade level or rate of progress.
