About this resource
A second picture-and-word sort for the same skill, with 15 all-new cards: 5 nouns, 5 verbs and 5 adjectives, mixed together on one cut-apart page. The child cuts, sorts and glues each card into Nouns, Verbs or Adjectives. The three mats start in different places, so the same 15 cards work for a child who needs a faint twin to match and a child who is ready to write each word under its group.
WHAT IS INCLUDED -- 22 pages, 351 type-in fields
The Cards
- 15 sorting cards in full color, each a big cut-apart piece laid edge to edge in a 5-across, 3-down grid, so the whole page is 6 straight cuts -- 5 nouns (sock, map, boots, bubble, cherry), 5 verbs (lift, surf, wrestle, kneel, fence) and 5 adjectives (confused, curious, bored, disgusted, cool)
- The same 15 cards again as an ink-saver set in pure black outlines, for the photocopier
- The cards are mixed on the page and none is color-coded by group
- Every picture is new to this product line -- none repeats the first Parts of Speech Picture Sort deck or any other picture-card deck already in the store
Sort Mats For Students
- 3 mats with a "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture, and a star to color when finished: a circle mat with a faint matching picture in each slot, a square mat with blank boxes, and a triangle page to sort and then write each word in its group on handwriting lines
- Each group is shown as its own band across the page, so five cards a group still fit comfortably
Probe And Track
- 3 quick probe forms (A, B, C), 5 cards each, cards from all three groups on every form, no card on two forms
- Full-Deck Probe -- all 15 cards on one sheet, with a total for nouns, verbs and adjectives (out of 5 each) and for all cards (out of 15)
- Data Log -- 17 rows: date, form, correct, out of, percent, notes
- Percent Graph -- 14 probes across, 0-100 percent grid, a field for the team's own criterion
- Caseload Summary -- 16 rows: student, task, baseline, current, trend, decision
Share And Write
- Practice at Home -- a family update with six of the same pictures, a weekly practice table, and lines for words a family noticed outside of practice time
- Phrase Bank -- 18 observable-language starters across 5 groups (accuracy, what was done, carryover, the log and graph, the caseload page)
- Filled Example -- an invented student, eight probes, every percent re-counted from its own row
Read This Before You Buy
The 5 adjective pictures are faces: each shows how someone looks or feels. The verb pictures show a person doing the action, but "fence" can also name a thing (a yard fence), so you decide once how you will mark that. 11 pictures have a second name a child may say (sock: a pair of socks, pictured; boots: one boot, pictured; bubble: bubbles, cherry: cherries, lift: weightlifting, wrestle: fighting, kneel: praying, fence: sword fighting, curious: thinking, bored: annoyed, disgusted: gross); the word is printed on every card, and the page lists them so you can decide before the first session.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, graph, caseload page, family page, and probe-form headers, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a norm-referenced or standardized test.
It carries no teaching, cueing or modeling script. It does not decide what counts as a correct sort, a criterion, or a typical rate for sorting words -- every one of those is your own call, written once and reused every session.
Who This Is For
Speech-language pathologists, special education teachers and paraprofessionals with young or pre-reading students who are working on nouns, verbs and adjectives, and the families who get the practice page sent home. Pairs with the first Parts of Speech Picture Sort for more practice without repeating a single card.
