About this resource
Looking for a penguin life cycle your K-2 students can do on their own? Students cut and glue the six stages in order (egg, egg on feet, hatching, chick, juvenile, adult), label the parts of an adult penguin and of a chick, and go around a life cycle wheel. Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction with a small picture and room to glue or write. Print and go, or type into the PDF.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (30 sheets)
- 14 student pages: 7 cutting pages with 40 cut pieces in all (every strip has 5 or 6 pieces, edge to edge so each cut is one straight line) and 7 writing and drawing pages
- Put it in order: cut and glue (2 sheets), cut and glue the words, number and name, what comes next, and a life cycle wheel to cut and glue
- Parts of a penguin: label an adult penguin and a chick, each by gluing words and by writing them (4 sheets)
- Write and draw: the wheel in words, draw each stage and write its name, finish 6 sentences with a word bank, and a trace-and-write word bank page
- 2 sheets of picture cards, 12 in all (the 6 stages, and beak, flipper, feet, fish, ice, feathers), for the teacher to cut apart before a small group lesson
- 3 levels marked with a shape in the corner: a circle (3 sheets) shows a faint picture or word where it goes, a square (5 sheets) is the standard cut and glue, a triangle (6 sheets) is writing instead of gluing
- 2 answer-key pages, a recording sheet, a filled example (an invented student), a family page, a binder cover with a spine strip, 3 divider tabs, a What's Next page and Start Here
How It Works
Pick a section, print a page, hand it over. The corner shape shows the level. Check with the key, then write the date and the score on the recording sheet. The family page shows the six stages in order with a few things to say at home.
Who This Is For
K-2 classroom and special education teachers, paraprofessionals and homeschool families teaching the penguin life cycle in a winter animals or polar unit, in a whole class, small group or independent work.
