About this resource

Looking for place value color by number pages that go past tens and ones? This set has 12 student sheets: 6 pictures (a hot air balloon, a night owl, a rocket, a sailboat, a whale and a lighthouse), each at two levels, with a number task in every part of the picture and a color key under it. The child reads the task, finds the number in the key, and colors that part. When the last part is colored, the picture appears. Print and go, or type into the name line and the show-your-work box.

EVERYTHING INSIDE (27 pages)

Two Levels

A small circle in the top corner means two-digit numbers, up to 99. A square means three-digit numbers, up to 999, including numbers with a zero in the tens place, like 1 hundred 0 tens 5 ones or 100 + 5. The same pictures come in both levels with different numbers and a different key, so two students can color the same picture at their own level.

Six Pictures, Five Kinds Of Task

The balloon, owl and rocket pages mix tens and ones, expanded form and blocks. The sailboat asks for the value of an underlined digit. The whale asks which number is greater. The lighthouse mixes four of the tasks for a review page. The 12 block tasks are on the owl, rocket and lighthouse sheets: tens rods and ones cubes at two digits, flats, rods and cubes at three digits.

How It Works

1. Pick a level and print a page. One short instruction on each: Find each number. Color by the key.

2. The child reads each part, finds the number in the key, and colors that part.

3. Check with the answer key, and write the date and how many were right on the tracker.

Built For The Child Holding The Page

A big "My name" line, big numbers, big color swatches and room to work. Nothing on a student page is written for an adult; the answer keys and trackers are on separate teacher pages. Every picture is drawn from plain shapes, so the parts are large enough for a young child's crayon.
