About this resource
Everything inside: 23 pages, 988 type-in fields · a detailed session sheet for EACH of forming the -ing verb itself, is/are + verb-ing agreement in a complete sentence, and identifying the action word happening right now, each with a 10-trial grid across 11 sessions and a sample 10-verb stimulus set · a quick combined daily check · a within-session frequency chart covering all three task types plus a 4-session quick-trend table · a whole-caseload roster · a binder cover and 4 cut-out tabs · a 3-task-type, 12-session tracker and graph · a quarterly summary · a family update · a 20-starter phrase bank · a plain-language paraprofessional/classroom form · a worked, invented example.
Present progressive (-ing) is one of the earliest grammatical-morphology goals on a caseload, and it is not one skill but three: spelling or producing the -ing ending itself, matching “is” or “are” to the subject while using it in a sentence, and recognizing the action word when it is already in a sentence someone else wrote or said. Nothing live in the store takes data on this skill as an ongoing caseload system — the closest products are a set of picture-matching cards with no session log, and a six-form is/are/was/were probe set that only samples the progressive construction twice per form and never asks the student to produce the -ing ending at all. This file runs the forming sheet, the agreement sheet, the identifying sheet, or the quick combined check, marks what the response actually was, adds the session up on one chart, and rolls it into a report and a family update that write themselves. Every mark on every page says only whether a response matched the target present-progressive form as judged that session — never a score against a published norm, a name for a condition, or a rule for when a referral is warranted.
WHAT IS INCLUDED — 23 pages
Set Up The Caseload
- Code Key: Recording Marks, Task-Type Codes and Levels — 4 response marks (+/−/SC/NR), 3 task-type codes (FORM/AGR/ID), 4 cue-level codes, 4 progress-status codes, 3 generalization levels (word/sentence/spontaneous) — every descriptor a blank line the team defines
- Present Progressive Caseload Roster — 14 rows: student, task type(s) tracked, current level, last session, next session due
- Binder Cover and Divider Tabs — a spine/cover card, 4 cut-out tabs matching the file's sections, and a 10-row "where to find things" index
Take The Data
- Forming the -ing Verb Data Sheet — a sample 10-base-verb stimulus set (ten different targets), 11 session rows of a 10-trial grid, criterion and cued-trial fields
- Is / Are + Verb-ing Agreement Data Sheet — the same shape for a complete sentence frame: a sample set of 10 sentence frames pairing a subject with the correct is/are + -ing response, 11 session rows of a 10-trial grid
- Identifying the Action in Progress Data Sheet — the same shape again, for naming the action word already inside a sentence: a sample set of 10 sentences, 11 session rows of a 10-trial grid
- Quick Daily Present Progressive Check — a 13-row log for whichever task type and verb actually came up that day, trading the fixed stimulus set for speed
- Frequency Correct/Incorrect Chart — one row per task type (3 rows) plus an optional combined-totals row, tallying presented/correct/incorrect/self-corrected/no-response for the session, a 4-session quick-trend table (3 rows x 4 sessions), plus a 4-item "when to change something" checklist
- Paraprofessional and Classroom Carryover Form — 14 rows, plain words instead of codes, for the adult in the room who is not the SLP or case manager
Track, Report And Share
- Cumulative Accuracy Tracker — three full 12-session blocks, one each for forming the -ing verb, is/are agreement and identifying the action, with date, level and percent correct logged each session
- Progress Graph — a scaled 0–100 grid to plot the trend, with an aim line
- Quarterly Progress Summary — a 3-row table (one per task type: baseline, current level, status, one sentence), settings/percent/next-step fields, two write-on cards, and a 4-item "before this goes in the report" checklist
- Family Update — Present Progressive at Home — a ready-to-send communication page: what was worked on and which task type, a verb that is going well, one verb to try at home, family questions and answers, and a 7-day practiced table
- Progress Note Phrase Bank — 20 observable-language starters across 4 groups (forming, agreement, identifying, the quarterly-report sentence), every one ending in a blank pulled from a data sheet in the file
Plus a Start Here quick-start, a 3-section contents page with real page thumbnails, 3 section dividers, and a "what's next" back page.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF. Open it in a PDF reader, click a field, type, Save As once per student. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT a Google Sheets file, a Google Doc, or an Excel workbook, and it does not score a response against a published norm or compute a percent for you.
It is not Present Progressive -ing Verb Picture Cards | Speech Therapy Language — that product is a set of picture and word matching cards with no session log, tracker, or caseload system. It is also not Copula and Auxiliary Verb Agreement (Is/Are/Was/Were) Probes | IEP Goal Data Sheet — six FIXED, consumable, student-held worksheet forms scoring ONE written is/are/was/were goal, of which only two of ten items per form even touch a progressive auxiliary, and which never asks the student to produce the -ing form itself. It is also not Subject-Verb Agreement Editing Progress Monitoring Probes | IEP Goal — a find-and-fix editing probe across ten subject kinds that never isolates the present-progressive construction. This file is the present-progressive-only data system: a detailed session sheet for EACH of forming the -ing verb, is/are agreement, and identifying the action, a quick combined check, a frequency chart, a paraprofessional/classroom form, a tracker and graph, a quarterly summary, a family update, and a phrase bank, built for a caseload across a term. No page in this file names a condition, states an age or a milestone, or sets a rule for when a referral is warranted; every criterion is a blank line the team writes in from the IEP and its own judgment. The verb lists and sentences are an informal, invented sample stimulus set built for this file, not a standardized instrument — swap in your own. No health data is pre-filled anywhere, and the example student (Mia S.) is invented and named as such on the worked-example page.
Who This Is For
Speech-language pathologists and special education case managers with a present-progressive (-ing) goal on the caseload, plus the paraprofessionals and general education teachers who help collect the data.
If You Want More
Present Progressive -ing Verb Picture Cards | Speech Therapy Language is the picture/word matching sibling. Copula and Auxiliary Verb Agreement (Is/Are/Was/Were) Probes | IEP Goal Data Sheet and Subject-Verb Agreement Editing Progress Monitoring Probes | IEP Goal are related grammar-agreement probe sets. Verb Tense (Regular and Irregular) Progress Monitoring and Data Collection Sheets Editable is the same caseload data-sheets shape, built for a different verb skill.
